But....we should all remain on the same page regarding false teachers.

We look at 2 Peter, Matthew 7, I think & Matthew 24, 2 Timothy, 2 Corinthians 11, Jude, Revelation 2, and I do not believe that this is an exhaustive list, but it's certainly a start.  Preaching and warning those who persist in ungodliness, is not preaching condemnation.  The Word tells us over and over again, be not deceived.  There is nothing condemning about warning.

2 Timothy 4:2 says Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

Would it be condemning to tell someone that is ready to walk in front of a truck moving 50 miles an hour that they will die if they step in front of it?  Burden for the unsaved is to tell them the Truth at all costs.  This is not a game, technique, or rules of the game, this is walking in the Holy Spirit of God, letting Him rule your life, your lips, and your walk.  This is about GOD, not us, walking in His Truth, His Spirit, and His Word, anything else is dung.

One has only to read the Bible and see the plain text of the Bible to understand that False teachers are already condemned.  Preaching condemnation????  Really???  Perhaps people don't like it when someone comes clean and says what the Bible truly says, simply, honestly, and with a righteous anger.  We have need of a Lord and Savior, and if we don't recognize that need...then how can we possibly understand the totality of salvation, the cost,  and what we are being saved from?

a lot of Paul Washers videos are edited . I know from listening to many of his videos edited and non edited that he has a heart for the lost. Sometimes when he is talking he cries for them "the people who may be los"t  and it looks to be genuine heart ache.  God has layed them on his heart and he knows he gets ridiculed and slammed as one who judges . He once mentioned about some of the videos making him look mean. He kinda of laughed and said he wasn't mean.  His heart goes out to the people who are being mislead into a false salvation. < That's serious stuff.  Anyway my humble opinion of this missionary man is he has such a deep love for these people he sets out to warn them and to love them.

I want to add too that I often wonder about how each of us have talents. Since I only saw the short clips his entire sermons may offer a better message. What if his talent is to preach condemnation to those truly unrepentant and living in continual sin never desiring real change? What if Amanda's is to reach out to those who've been afraid to come to Christ because of old religious teaching and feeling they won't be good enough? What if mine is encouraging newer Christians not to give up because of turmoil or confusion because they question if they truly repented even knowing they're not living in sin? What if yours is to help others make a choice to return and try again? Maybe they all have a part since the body of Christ is made of many members. All of us so often fall into our Corinthian disputes though and lose sight of working as one body together and we each get hurt feelings.

I have to agree on that. Janie I too was put off by that video. Now I believe it was you? Who said you knew that wasn't how he viewed things? But as one who never heard this guy, that one clip seemed to be condemning of anyone growing with Christ. It sounded like he was saying that if you step out of line and in any moment of weakness sin, that you were never truly saved to begin with. I guess where Amanda says she is burdened for the lost, I have a burden for new Christians who struggle overcoming the negative thoughts that they're unloved or can't please God or will never be any use to Him. They often give up and backslide but keep crawling back time after time because they want that love Christ displays and offers. They long for a hope that's been stolen from them throughout childhood perhaps. They are unable to feel anyone could love them. And they hear a message like this while timidly trying to accept God's love and wanting to break free of this fear o's speaking out because they'll be ridiculed and made to feel worthless again, and feel they didn't experience this huge change this guy says they had to have felt or they weren't truly saved. That's not going to encourage them in the Gospel of Christ to believe and repent and they shall be saved. It will make them feel as if there is no salvation for them for some reason they cannot figure out. Rather than pressing forward and finding change coming with growth as they persevere.

I don't know but I get the feeling sometimes that some people don't really carry a burden for the lost but instead want them to stay lost.

I have the same feeling. Most doesnt  want to warn of the false gosples and the false teachings they don't give a ratz about anybody but themselves. They would rather spend more time casting stones at the ones they accuse of casting stones at them and the lost.  Some people become bullies and throw cheap shots in such a subtle way and lie and may or may not say that was what they meant.  No one here wants the lost to stay lost Amanda. Who are you accusing??????  I know your friends most likely come down on me for asking you this ... but so be it. I think that above statement is going a little to far.

LOL I just re - read my response. I'M not the umpteen time. That was supposed to be IN.

Watchman I always like the story of Peter. His love for Jesus was unmistakable but his human fear still got the better of him. He didn't deny Christ because he wanted nothing to do with Him. He'd wanted so much to protect and help Him. But also knew he couldn't and in a time of fear he responded by denial for fear what he would suffer. Christ already knew he would and told him so but He still loved him and knew what Peter would ultimately become. He didn't disown him or cast him aside but used him in spite of his human weakness. So I know that when I'm less than perfect and don't always respond in the manner I should God is right there along side me prompting me and reminding me of my growth and knowing my desire to do right and my sometime failure. He has never condemned my failure though Satan has, others have and I have. This is how He was with Peter. He knows our weaknesses and loves us in spite of them. He knows we were changed and our hearts are set on Him and being like Him while also knowing we don't have the ability to always carry it out but that we abide in the Word so that we CAN bear much fruit.

This is how I see Him and read Him in scripture. And how I know He operates from numerous personal experiences.

Watchman thank you for answering. Yes i asked the question a few times in the discussion forum but I guess it was lost I'm the umpteen replies.

being tempted isn't a sin, giving in is.

Of course. Jesus was tempted in every way we are but without sin. I don't think any of us here want to sin but I also don't believe that any of us can claim we never will because we're new creatures. We're still flesh and blood. And we have a desire to do God's will. When someone hurts me I may, in a moment of hurt say something unseemly. It's not that I seek vengeance but I do tend to react quickly out of hurt. Then feel bad it happened later and pray about it. I can't change me. People have tried self help seminars and books for years and still fought the same battles. God is the ONLY one who can change any of us. I pray when I feel hurt, react from hurt, am grumpy, irritated, less than loving.

Janie until this video I'd never heard of the guy so with this one little snippet there was no way to know what Paul Washer was talking about. I watched the video...even replayed the ending quite a few times trying to see if I was misunderstanding what he was saying. It's extremely hard to judge what another means by their words unless they somehow clarify their stance.
