I, too, go up to Jerusalem

"Behold, we go up to Jerusalem." Luke 18:31

"We start with Christ and we end with Him—'until we all attain to the stature of the manhood of Christ Jesus,' not to our idea of what the Christian life should be. The aim of the missionary is to…

Detachment

We have seen the Church as a thorn in Satan's side, causing him acute discomfort and reducing his freedom of movement. Though in the world, the Church not only refuses to aid in the world's construction but persists in pronouncing judgment upon it. But if this is true, if the…

Providence

The  of the Lord is with them that fear him (Ps. 25:14).

There are secrets of Providence which God's dear children may learn. His dealings with them often seem, to the outward eye, dark and terrible. Faith looks deeper and…

False Prophets [NASB]

1But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2Many will follow their sensuality, and because of…

Amid The Dazzling Confusion

The religious atmosphere of the present time is much changed from what it was in my younger days; and I may be allowed to note the difference. The theological crisis through which we are passing is a peculiar one, such as the men of fifty years ago would have thought very unlikely; and I wish to mark some of its more important characteristics.…

THE REFINERS FIRE

Ten thousand enemies cannot stop a Christian, cannot even slow him down, if he meets them in a attitude of complete trust in God. They will become to him like the atmosphere that resists the airplane, but which because the plane's designer knew how to take advantage of that resistance, actually lifts the plane aloft and holds it there for a journey of 2,000 miles. What would have been an enemy to the plane becomes a helpful servant to…

The Gospel, Cheap Grace, and a Lost Eternity

The Gospel, Cheap Grace, and a Lost Eternity

The gospel most evangelicals in the West preach today bears little resemblance to that found in the New Testament. Increasingly the very heart of the biblical gospel message is being stripped away, leaving a shell which offers little of what Jesus and the disciples…

I don't understand

I have never really used the blog...to post anything personal, but I have been very burdened by many of the responses here.  I don't understand...the hatred and contempt that I have aroused here.  I don't understand why the very words of Jesus are being tossed out and excused, for instance, judging false teachers.  This is now a bad thing?  We are to just let alone and be silent?  That is inexcusable and disobedient to God.

To state that someone will be saved even if they pursue…
