All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Have you ever really listened to the words you speak? When I was first learning how important my thoughts and words were to my life, I started listening to what I was speaking. At the time I was working on my thoughts trying not to allow any negative ones in my mind, but while I was working on that I started noticing all the negative things I was speaking.

The words didn't seem like much, but as I kept track it really accumulated. They were just small things like "traffic is going to be bad", "my jeans don't fit", ECT. They didn't seem like they were a big deal but the Lord showed me even though they were little things, I was still speaking "negative" things.

They were just little things, but they build up and they keep your mind focused on the negative things instead of the positive things in your life. By saying those little negative things I was also losing my gratitude. You cannot complain and have gratitude at the same time and gratitude is one of the keys to the peace and abundance the Lord has for you.

Instead of saying traffic is going to be bad (which is speaking a negative situation into your life) you should say " I am trusting God to make my travel smooth no matter how much traffic there is. Instead of complaining that my jeans don’t fit anymore I should say that I am thankful for the pants I have on that do fit and I am asking the Lord to help me get back into the other ones.

Don't deny what is going on. If you find yourself in a negative situation, do not just say everything is ok. That is not speaking positive. That is just trying to ignore something and that is not what we are supposed to do.
For example it would be ridiculous to say you are feeling great when someone asks you how you are feeling when you are obviously sick. That doesn't help anyone, especially anyone who doesn't understand the importance of the spoken word, but we also do not want to give the enemy any foothold with our words.

When I am sick I do address that I am not feeling well, but I also state (speak out loud) that the Lord took all my sickness as disease, so he is going to make me feel better by the morning. Then I have my husband pray for me. The last three times I have felt like I was coming down with a cold I did this it never turned into a cold. I felt much better the next day. It was awesome!

Remember what you speak has power.

Pro 18:21
Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am certainly guilty of speaking negatively but have learnt the art of positive speech. A poignant factor on negative speech is that it can have an impact on our children as well in the way they speek. If we use positive speech then they are most likely to do so as well.

Thank you Therese. The Lord has blessed me by teaching me these things and it is my hope and prayer to teach other what he has shown me. It is sad to see so many defeated Christians when Christ died so they could live. Thank you for your comment.

Amen, praise God for this truth you have presented here, I pray that people will heed and listen to this truth. I mean I have seen and seen sooo many Godly wonderful Christians, yet they are sick and poor even though they are givers and it seems like they are doing everything right but they are using their tongue to praise God in one way and praise satan without really meaning to do that and what i am meaning is the negative words they speak about their body and finances and families, for example, I do have this wonderful godly friend and she has been praying for her husband and kids to come back to the Lord for nearly 15 years now and it seems like it is getting worse and worse and my friends, this is how this sweet lady prays for her family:" God please save my wicked husband and my wicked kids, they are so much in bondage, it is sooo hard, please soften their hard heart". I could not believe what i heard her pray and i told her : " Friend, why you do not start your prayers with thanksgiving for your husband and children and for their returning soon to the Lord, why you do not send good thoughts toward them when you are with them, it is so important to make them feel the love of God with your thoughts, I know they are living in sin but why you do not thank God for not giving up on them and when you think of them and it make mad how they live, just go to God and declare His faithfulness, He is faithful and He will perfecteth that which concerns you. I find this truth getting clearer and brighter, that God's Word is much more effective than our words and I notice that His word is not negative but positive and full of love and mercy, even when God gets angry, His anger is only for moment but His mercy endures forever.
I sooo appreciate your ministry and the word you posted above about the power of our words and you got me excited and I had to let it out. I wholy agree with you both. Amen.

everything you discussed is really true, and we can't deny the fact that many peope are possessing pessimitic thought(so do i, before). at this present time i am trying to exercise the power of positive thinking together with God's help. what you said, reminds me that words are really powerful, and it connects us to Jesus .
