All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Life and death are truely in His hands

Dad and I were walking in the parking lot to get from the vehicle to the store. He stopped me all of a sudden. This red car pulled out almost hitting us. If we would have even been probably 10 seconds earlier we would have been hit. And if dad didn't stop me I would have probably walked right when the car was coming out anyways. Praise God! the Lord surely takes care of His own. And thankfully He has been very merciful sparing my parents' lives in more than one instance. Life and death are truly in His hands.

Enjoy your day as well.

There's still hope though. God can reach anyone. :-) If He can reach Paul than He can surely reach those in my family or anyone else for that matter.

Lol, I am in a preachy mood today after getting beat up in a basketball game after church today, Joshua, the preacher plays by inner city street rules (he's half Afro-American), and I still haven't realized I'm not the Young Marine I once was even as I won't back down from taking an elbow to my face. Time to take dogs for a run in the woods then take my hobbit on an adventure online, it is not my place to lecture anyone, let alone a Lady about God.  Enjoy the day Feet Trees!

When God created us and gave us that gift unique to us, our soul. And he also gave us free choice since he did not want robots that blindly obey. I don't hold to the old-style approach of fearing God, I believe it is our love, freely given, that He wants above all. As to the matter of personal beliefs, well it is the God-given right of each of us, to follow what we hold to be sacred and true, although many choose ignorance, or are corrupted in hat they believe. To me faith is an individual thing as is "truth". For there is my truth, your truth, their truth, and there is God's Truth which someday in heaven we get to fully see and comprehend. This is one of God's great gift to mankind, that we get to choose (a opposed to Satan's where we are slaves to his bidding): this freedom to choose I have strived to defend, even if the freedom is used in error. During this life, I try to muddle along with what I learned from my parents, the various "men/women called to God", the Bible (and many other books by thoughtful men); what I have learned the hard way, by personal experience. I have met those that have never strayed from the path of righteousness since they could walk--that is so alien to my makeup I can barely understand how (and in most cases I am distrustful of someone who has never had doubts about their own faith and beliefs). Even the concept of a heaven of a place of total peace and tranquility, I am not sure I would like all that much: I enjoy the struggle, the challenge of life (far too much for my own good I suppose). You are old enough to have the legal right to make your own choices, besides the right God has given you. I believe you are heading in the right direction: just remember, they have the same right as you do. Be an example of righteousness and a witness always.

I mean dad and uncle Hubert believe the Bible has been corrupted by man. Yes,Hubert also believes only 144,000 will get to Heaven.

Uncle Lewis [within the last year he only visited twice, that's how I found out what he believes] believes being born again is a cult. He said a relative [I'm not sure who] has gotton born again and that it's a cult. He hopes he [the born again relative] doesn't influence [I forget who he said,I just know the person's female] into becoming born again.

He was telling us my aunt [his sister] tried to warn him you have to make sure you're saved so you don't go to Hell. Well, he told us "You can't just tell people they're going to Hell." He was very upset.

Well, it sounds like God has placed you in a great position to be an example to those that are important to your life. That's a pretty fine purpose to have, and a chance to do God's will. Children usually learn by example, so do many that are adults.

My mom makes her views clear whenever she talks about them. Dad on the other hand doesn't talk about his beliefs. The few times I've heard him discuss what he believes

1.He believes the Holy Spirit is an active force.

2.He believes  only 144,000 go to Heaven.

3.He believes the Bible's been corrupted by man.

4.One time [it's been a long time] I was watching t.v. Some guy said that he's going to get to Heaven through his good works or whatever. I remarked how that's not true, only Christ gets a person to Heaven. Dad heard me and sounded surprised that I said that.

When dad has talked,I noticed he gets defensive [not physically,of course,I mean defensive as trying to defend what he believes] and upset if his beliefs are challenged. Unfortuntly, he never attempted to "prove" what he believes.

That's one reason this is so hard. Dad,mom, uncle Hubert and uncle Lewis get upset if their beliefs are challenged but never back up those beliefs with "proof". Uncle Jerry seems a little skeptical but when he and Lewis [they came for a visit on Dec. 30th] visited,Lewis did the most talking.

There's also Uncle David [he's an atheist/Satanist]. A long time ago [probably been over 2 years] he tried to argue with me about creation or whatever. I forget what he said but mom told me to not talk to him about it. She didn't want no trouble.

Dad sadly doesn't know Christ. :-(

God does keep an eye on those that believe. Nice to hear you mention your dad, don't think I've seen you mention him before. How is he with God and you're growing close to Him?
