INTERCESSION

AN INTERCESSOR IS SOMEONE WHO PLEADS ON BEHALF OF OTHERS!
AN INTERCESSOR MUST BE A LOVER OF GOD AND HIS WORD!
AN INTERCESSOR SHOULD KNOW GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST!
GOD LOOKS FOR INTERCESSORS TO STAND IN THE GAP OF GOD’S WRATH AND PLEAD FOR MERCY BEHALF OF OTHERS.

Today’s understanding of the word is a group of people who pray, whereas God has commanded all believers to come boldly before His Throne of Grace and get His help and also to pray for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
We have been made kings and priests to God – 
As kings of the Kingdom of God, we have dominion to rule
As priests of the Kingdom we minister unto God in thanksgiving, praise and worship for He seeks worshippers to worship Him in spirit & truth

We are instructed to pray for all men and for all in authority, for kings as this is good and acceptable to God.  1 Tim. 2: 1-4
In fact, this is a privilege for it is a time of blessed fellowship with Father and He shows us many things in prayer and it transforms us from glory to glory and our faith is established strongly in Him.
There are many instructions about prayer but we will only consider INTERCESSION –

THE PURPOSE OF INTERCESSION  –
It brings deliverance and pleads the cause of others – Isa.53: 12 & Rom.8: 26-28, 34
It defends people exposed to danger and commends others to God -  Heb.7: 25 and Rom. 8: 26, 27
It enforces the establishment of God’s will and purpose on this planet Mathew 6: 9- 15 and
Rom.8: 26-28
To enable us to lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty 1 Tim.2: 1

A BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRATION OF INTERCESSION IN THE O.T. IS FOUND IN GENESIS  18: 23-33 – let us read this – Abraham pleading with God.

In the N.T. we have JESUS when he was on the cross praying for the transgressors Isa. 53: 12 and we have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit to assist us in our Intercession with groanings that cannot be uttered.  Rom. 8: 26- 28 
Examples – Stephen when he was being stoned and Paul when he was praying for Israel Acts 7: 59- 60 and Rom. 10: 1– 10

INTERCESSION IS SPIRITUAL BUSINESS and therefore we must be careful not to fall a prey to the carnal distractions of the devil.
A carnal believer is a born-again person who has not allowed his mind to be renewed by the Word of God and he is still guided by his five senses.

a) When there are visions, voices, dreams we must let the Word of God be our check and balance.
b) Fleshly manifestations, weird – example - making sounds like animals or strange movements to impress others. They deceive and are being deceived
c) Do not be led by emotions and feelings but by the Holy Spirit – Rom. 8: 14; Psalm 119: 105;  Col. 3: 16
d) Avoid the misuse of the Scriptures for self-interest, or self-promotion but let Jesus be glorified.   Do not pass on news of prayer requests that are confidential.
e) Lack of knowledge of the Word of God is very dangerous especially during the interpretations of visions or voices during intercessions.

EVERY BELIEVER SHOULD PRAY FOR

• THEIR COUNTRY, FOR NATIONS, FOR LEADERS (in governments)
• CHURCHES – YOUR CHURCH LEADERS – MUSICIANS - OUTREACHES
• YOUR FAMILY AND  UNSAVED LOVED ONES,
• THE SICK  AND THE DYING
• MARRIAGES, YOUTH, CHILDREN, JOBS, ETC.
• MEDIA VENUES – TVs, COMPUTERS, RADIOS, MAGAZINES, etc.
• THE PERSECUTED AND  MISSION WORKS
• ISRAEL
• OURSELVES

ALL THE ABOVE REQUESTS SHOULD BE IN LINE WITH THE WILL OF GOD AS STATED IN HIS WORD!!

 I pray on the ground of the shed blood of Jesus Christ – by faith I apply THE BLOOD on the person/s or situations and in the Name of Jesus Christ, (our authority) I bind the works of darkness knowing we have only one enemy who seeks to rob, destroy and kill  John 10: 10
Use the armor of God given and you will be a blessing to God’s redeemed people and a real trouble-maker to the kingdom of darkness.
You will no doubt attract his attention BUT HE THAT IS IN YOU IS GREATER THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.
The devil fears you for you are now a threat to his kingdom!

THE BASIC STEP FOR BEING AN INTERCESSOR IS YOU MUST BE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD FOR OUR WARFARE IS NOT AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD BUT AGAINST THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL, no matter through whom he works!
Just as God is a Spirit and needs human agents to do His will on earth, the devil is also a spirit and uses human beings to work against God.
WE ARE IN CHRIST AND STAND ON REDEMPTION GROUND AND THE DEVIL KNOWS THIS AND THEREFORE HE MUST OBEY YOUR COMMAND GIVEN IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD!

I TRUST WE WILL ALL TAKE UP THIS PRIVILEGE TO BE INTERCESSORS AND SERVE THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS PLANS AS LONG AS HE GIVES US BREATH!

A PRAYERLESS MINISTRY IS A POWERLESS MINISTRY!
