All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I try to keep from editorializing in my blog as much as I can. I enjoy writing about God's Word and lessons we as Christians can learn from it. But last week I was very disheartened by a company that, up until now, had taken a bold, Christian stance on the subject of traditional marriage. Then last week they decided to remain silent on the issue and, as a statement from them said, “let the government handle the debate.” By keeping silent they're giving their approval. In my view that is wrong. I believe if you're going to stand for Christ, you should never let public opinion sway you on something you know to be wrong.

Of course, this isn't the first time something that is viewed as “politically correct” has taken precedence over something that is morally wrong.

I think when God started to be left out of our schools, our children started suffering. The violence that plague our schools is horrific. But had God still been welcomed, who's to say that any violence would have never happened? A United States representative once said “ "We have a dangerous trend beginning to take place in our education. We're starting to put more textbooks into our schools...containing fables and moral lessons...We are spending less time in the classroom on the Bible, which should be the principal text in our schools...The Bible states these great moral lessons better than any other man made book."

The man that said that was Representative Fisher Ames. The year he said it was 1789! Even many generations ago, the Power of God in our schools was recognized as well as the price we'll pay for ignoring Him and keeping Him our of our lives.

In today's world, the words of Isaiah are coming all too true. People are trading evil for good, and good for evil. The line between those two has never been blurrier. In the twenty-fourth chapter of Matthew, Jesus told of what the world will be like as the end times draw near. I'm convinced we are living in them now. Christians have never been more persecuted than they are now. Violence against Christians reign in many parts of the world. In America, there's not so much violence as there is ridicule of those that believe in the bible. If we stand by God's Word, we are called bigots. We “discriminate” against those that go against God's Word. How can it be discrimination if God says it's wrong?

We are expected to go with the flow in society. Watch the television programs that demonize the teachings of the Bible and glorify what it is against. Paul's letters to Timothy lay out exactly what our society is becoming. In Peter's second Epistle, he says scoffers will come in the last days and follow their own evil desires. That's happening now. If we would be satisfied with “the eternal pleasures at (Christ's) right hand” (Psalm 16:11) what a different world we would be living in

With all the “political correctness” that says God's way is the wrong way, I think of the late pastor, Adrian Rogers' words: “Nothing is politically correct if it is morally wrong.”
