Why Would God Want to Hang Out with a Bad Person Like Me?

None of us are perfect.  In fact, the only perfect person was Jesus Christ.  We all fall short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23) and have sinned.

For a long time I didn’t like that word “sin” but it became a whole lot more palatable when I understood it didn’t mean I committed heinous acts, but simply made mistakes, and these mistakes or lack of perfection, (which is unattainable for all of us humans ), separated me from God. No matter how hard I try, I will never be…

Three Bullets

There once was a man who had nothing for his family to eat.

He had an old rifle and three bullets. So, he decided that he would go out hunting and kill some wild game for dinner. As he went down the road, he saw a rabbit. He shot at the rabbit and missed it. The rabbit ran away.

Then he saw a squirrel and fired a shot at the squirrel and missed it.

The squirrel disappeared into a hole in a cottonwood tree.

As he went further, he saw a large wild "Tom" turkey in the tree, but…

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men”

In today’s society, many people have accepted mediocrity as the norm. They do as little as they can to get by, always looking for the easy way out. If the boss isn’t watching, they’re playing on the computer. They simply go to work to pick up a paycheck, then wonder why they’re not promoted and don’t see increase. It’s because God doesn’t…

Monday morning

Today, I refuse to let anything rob me of my joy.

I had a wonderful time at a church function yesterday……….went to listen to a blessed afternoon of sacred song.  After returning home, I discovered I lost my wallet in the auditorium.

I figured it wont help much to drive back to try and retrieve my wallet, as it would be gone by then anyway as there were hundreds of…

"Proving Them Wrong"

Everyone suffers an occasional rejection. Some high school seniors don't get into their college of choice. Many a college graduate doesn't get the dream job he or she had counted on. Suitors are turned down. Social slights abound.

Some people so internalize the rejections they encounter that they become paralyzed by life. They abandon their dreams. They settle for less than God intended with their lives. They give up and resign themselves to mediocrity. They allow the judgments…

God never lies!

A king who did not believe in the goodness of God, had a slave who, in all circumstances, said: My king, do not be discouraged, because everything God does is perfect, no mistakes!

57 CENT CHURCH

A little girl stood near a small church from which she had been turned away because it was 'too crowded.'

'I can't go to Sunday School,' she sobbed to the pastor as he walked by.

Seeing her shabby, unkempt appearance, the pastor guessed the reason and, taking her by the hand, took her inside and found a place for her in the Sunday school class. The child was so happy…

Shirley Goodnest

A mother was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school.

He didn't want his mother to walk with him.

She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe.

So she had an idea of how to handle it.

She asked a neighbour if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance,

So he probably…

WHY SHOUT?

A theology professor was teaching about proverbs 15:1. He asked his students, "Why do we shout in anger?  Why do people shout at each other when they are upset? The students thought for a while.  One of them said, because we lose our calm, we shout for that.  "But why shout when the other person is just next to you?" asked the professor.

"Isn't it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you are angry?"  The students gave some other answers but… Continue

WE REAP WHAT WE SOW

The important thing to remember is the LAST line!

A successful business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.

Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together.

He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you." The young executives were Shocked, but the boss…

I I was encouraged by this – I hope you will be too…..

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth’s rite of Passage?  His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him and leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it. He cannot cry out for help to anyone. Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own. The boy is naturally terrified.…

Donkeys

Some donkeys were in the field nearby Jerusalem. One donkey said;
"I don't understand it, just yesterday everyone was throwing their clothes and palms on the road
when I was carrying Jesus on my back but now I am back to being a nothing. Those people don't even
see its me who was carrying Jesus."
Another donkey said:

"It works like that my brother; without Jesus you are nothing in this world"

THANK YOU JESUS

Lord, I just want to say THANK YOU,

Because this morning I woke up and knew where my children were.

Because this morning my home was still standing,

Because this morning I am not crying

Because my spouse, my child, my brother or sister, my parent does not need to be buried

or to be pulled out from underneath a pile of concrete,

Because this morning I was able to drink a glass of water,

Because this…

There are eyes everywhere.... So mind yourself...

Several years ago, a preacher from out-of-state accepted a call to a church elsewhere.

Some weeks after he arrived, he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to

the downtown area. When he sat down, he discovered that the driver had accidentally

given him a quarter too much change.

As he considered what to do, he thought to himself, 'You'd better give the quarter

back. It would be wrong to keep it.'

Then he thought, 'Oh, forget it, it's only… Continue
