My story with God: Thank you so much. I want to do a little introduction so you can all get to know me better. Twenty-one years ago I got out the Army and I was suffering from PTSD so I went to the VA Hospital and they put me on medications, but I found myself that I could not function on them so I stopped taking them, MY wife found out and wasn't pleased because I started to self-medicated with drugs and alcohol and took a spiraled downward path of destruction. I found myself homeless and panhandling for change to get my next drink or whatever I could get. Then all of sudden a light popped into my head and I realized that I need help. So I went to a local mission and they took me in feed, clothed me and nursed me back to health. They asked me why such a educated man would let this happen to himself, so I told the story. They asked me if I would like to go their rehab program and I said sure, I'm thinking to myself it's better than being homeless. Well I went there and it was a very intense rehab based upon Godly principles and it was then I realized that I was truly missing something and it was God so I fell to me knees and prayed while crying and asked Him into my heart, and ever since that day I never used alcohol, drugs and my PTSD was cured no longer needing medications and the nightmares vanished. So today I am a pastor with a prison ministry and about to finish my Doctorate Degree in Christian Substance Abuse and Addiction Counseling and I now also have two Facebook groups dedicated to helping alleviating addictions
