My story with God

I come from a 'christian family' and gave my life to Jesus as a 10 year-old. But I was too lazy to pray and read my Bible much as a teenager; obviously I was a weak believer at by the time I started uni at the age of 18. I quickly got into drinking, raving, parties, sex and girlfriends, which lead to smoking, which led to esctasy and marijuana.
Fortunately throughout that time, I still had a spark of love for the Lord hidden deep down in my spirit. I was going to a church just a couple of minutes walk from the house where we would smoke and drink every day. I was just waiting for the right time to start coming to church regularly and actually living for God; I was allowing Satan to use my shame and guilt to make me miss most church services.
The one night, about Feb this year, while I was stoned out of my head, I clearly heard God him telling me that there's no such thing as the 'right time' to return to him. He said that he would give me a chance to come into him, because the way I was living, it might soon be too late.
I knew that God was right, and over the next few weeks I prayed for a renewed fear of God and freedom from addiction. I also stopped missing services, and at the same time the Holy Spirit was convicting me of every sin in my life. The guys in the church quickly became my best friends and I was being challenged every day to live for Jesus.
Now, about 4-5 months after that awakening, I'm free from my addictions, I have stopped hanging out with my non-believing friends and am experiencing the peace, joy and hope which comes from a relationship with Jesus. So even though my life isn't perfect yet, I finally understand that when you start feeding the spirit with prayer and the word of God, the flesh grows weaker and weaker. Now my only addiction is to Christ, the only person who I can really call 'my saviour'.

Other stuff about me:

The church that I got saved in is the Potters House in Derby, a tiny church full of Holy Spirit-filled young people who are impacting the city for the Lord. Now I have a passion to teach young people about how to connect with our invisible Father in Heaven - the ONLY way - through Christ.
