All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Are you seeking the gifts or the Giver?

Sometimes we get so caught up in seeking God's presents that we forget all about His presence! God wants every believer to remain in His presence and have a personal relationship with Him just like you would with any other friend.

King David knew the importance of seeking God's presence and dwelling with Him. In Psalm 27:4, David writes, One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. David set himself to seek and require one thing--God's presence.

The next two verses (Psalm 27:5-6) tell us the rewards of seeking God: For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at His tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.

The rewards of seeking God are awesome; not only will you develop a closer relationship with God, but you will also find true joy and contentment.

Psalm 16:11 says, You will fill me with joy in your presence. In other words, joy is found in God's presence--not His presents! Therefore, evaluate your life to make sure that you're seeking God, not just His gifts.

Marie
HALLELUJAH, THANK YOU JESUS, LORD I GIVE YOU PRAISE AND HONOR FOR WHO YOU ARE.

THANK YOU SO MUCH MY SISTER, I'M GLAD THAT YOU PLACED THIS HERE AT A TIME LIKE THIS. YOU SEE, AT THIS TIME, EVERYONE IS SEEKING A GIFT, AND THEY ARE NOT IN THE LEAST BIT CONCERNED ABOUT THE GIVER AND THE RELATIONSHIP THEY HAVE WITH THE GIVER. WE ALWAYS WANT GOD TO GIVE TO US UNENDINGLY, BUT OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM IS ON LOW. MY GOD, WE STAND NO WHERE WITH HIM, WE JUST WANT TO GET THE GIFTS OF PROMISE. BUT WE ARE IN FOR A RUDE AWAKENING, FOR GOD WILL DO HIS WILL AND HIS WILL ONLY, HE SAYS HE WILL HAVE MERCY ON WHOM HE WILL HAVE MERCY. I DO HOPE THAT OTHERS WILL READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHERE THEY ARE IN CHRIST JESUS. GOD BLESS YOU.
Great reply, I enjoyed reading your comments. You have the same feeling that I do and I am very much guilty of wanting at times. I can hear myself saying Lord, just bless me so that I can retire. Now I have to take a close look, what am I doing for Christ am a giving him my all and all. We really have to think, what makes us so important that we want God to fulfill our every need but we fall short of giving him the glory and honor.

God Bless you, Marie
Hey there Marie, I'm very passionate right now about what I can do for my God and not what he can do for me, see, he's always there, that's what he says and I've proven it, so, if he's always there for me I need to be always doing something that concerns him. and If I do his will and his work, he'll take care of all my problems, my business, my cares, my worry, my fear , my doubt. my fail because we allow the enemy to tell us other things and to bring us into a place where we find it hard to comprehend what God has given us and what we should give him in return. He promised us that he'll bless us coming out and going in and that's an unbroken promise we must believe, (Deut. 28) therefore, we must work the works of him who has sent us while it is day, for the night cometh when we cannot work. yes, the time will come when we can do nothing and all we will be saying is this, "I should have done this and I should have done that" by then it is of no use. let us give of ourselves to others for the Lord. God bless you sister. love you.
