What comes to mind when you read that title XXXChurch? Well do you think of something good or bad? Let me tell you what it means to the people who run it. " In 2002, we showed up at a porn show. Not outside with signs and megaphones. We showed up inside because we care. Ten years later, we are still showing up in your world because we still care about you" - Unknown XXXChurch is a ministry to help those who both look at it and work in the industry. They have helped many woman get out of the industry and with God's help become born-again Christians and never look back. They go into the events industry events where people from the industry walk around talking and walking and giving out prizes and dressed not so nice and the people from XXXChurch so love, grace, and mercy to the people in the conventions and just want to be there friends. They just want to show them the love of Christ. They even go so far as to hand out bibles that say on the covers "Jesus Loves Porn Stars." Also they will pray with people if they want prayer. So what do you think of this? The people who run this say that they do this because they feel that they are going into places that Jesus would go.

Grace the way I see it is there hurting broken people like we were before we met Jesus. They need Jesus just as bad as we do now that we have Jesus. Jesus went so far in HIS life to eat and drink with the sinners. Remember Jesus became one of us. Yet even though HE did not sin HE walked among those who sinned and were rejected everyday. Grace what kind of bible are you reading? My bible says that he eat with drunks, tax collectors, hung out with prostitutes, healed leapers, and died with thieves. HE was beaten by the common man. A roman. Turned in by HIS own (the Jews). The very ones who should have known Jesus best turned there backs on HIM and hated HIM every second HE was alive on Earth. They were the religious leaders of HIS(Jesus') day. The Bible I read says "Come to me all who are weary and I will give you rest." Those are the words of Jesus. Today people are just like that. The ones Grace that you see unfit to be ministered to today I believe Jesus would run to faster than most Church people. Its said that I say that. But its true. There's a song that came out a few years ago by Todd Agnew called My Jesus. Here's the words

Which Jesus do you serve?
If Ephesians says to imitate Christ

If Jesus was here would you walk right by on the other side or fall down and worship at His holy feet

Is how you see Him as He dies for Your sins
But the Word says He was battered and scarred
Or did you miss that part
Sometimes I doubt we'd recognize Him
Cause my Jesus bled and died
He spent His time with thieves and the least of these
He loved the poor and accosted the comfortable
So which one do you want to be?
Cause my Jesus would never be accepted in my church
The blood and dirt on His feet might stain the carpet
But He reaches for the hurting and despises the proud
I think He'd prefer Beale St. to the stained glass crowd
And I know that He can hear me if I cry out loud
I want to be like my Jesus!

Not a posterchild for American prosperity, but like my Jesus
You see I'm tired of living for success and popularity

Grace, I haven't read all of your replies but from what I've read, I'm so in the same ballgame with you. I know Jesus loves them & died for them. I know God sent His Son for them. But, like you, many Scriptures are overlooked. People assume God loves the sinner but hates the sin. I'm like you on the Scriptures - does He really? Yes, Jesus ate with the sinners, yadda yadda but what we so soon forget is WE AIN'T JESUS. The Scriptures that are quoted about Him eating with the sinners, I can counter with scriptures that say we're not to eat with sinners. So, me personally, these ministries are not for me. I pray if the Lord leads these folks to them, then may He bless their work & His ultimate will be done. I pray while they're in the devil's dens, He hold them up for His purpose.

What does it mean to be a light and what is the Great Commission? Isn't God using and sending the church to draw people to Christ?
Matthew 5:14-16
New International Version (NIV)
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Ephesians 5
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper,
rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”
In exposing deeds of darkness, we are to have nothing to do with those deeds but are to have the fruit of the light, which consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth. This doesn't mean not to go into the world, preaching to everyone. It means go and expose by the light. To confess means to agree with God about sin. People must see their sin before they are able to confess. Light helps them see.
Trust me, I want to stay home and hide, too, and just pray for the lost. There's a lot to being a light. It's pretty awesome that you can help awaken those dead in their sins. But also much responsibility because we are to have the fruit of the light -- all goodness, righteousness and truth. It takes strong Christians to be lights. IMO
To expose sin, don't you have to go where it is and where the disobedient are and shine your light on it making it visible?
