All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

How many people do you know, or maybe you are someone who does this?

What does Jesus say about fixing ourselves to be good enough?  Are you striving to be good enough, or clean yourself up...or somehow try to fix yourself?

Psalm 46:10New American Standard Bible (NASB)

10 [a]Cease striving and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the [b]nations, I will be exalted in the earth

Here are some scriptures to read and pray about, try to read them in listed order:

Matthew 11:28-30

Luke 2:14-17

Romans 3:23

Ephesians 2:3

1 John 1:8

Romans 5:12

John 3:16-18

John 14:16

2 Peter 3:9

Ephesians 2:8,9

John 14:1

Romans Chapter 8 (yes---the whole chapter)

Galatians 6:14-18

2 Corinthians 5:16-18

Isaiah Chapter 53 (In the Old testament)

All religions of the world tell us we have to be good enough to make our way to God--except Christianity.  We have to somehow clean ourselves up to be pleasing to God.   Jesus says and shows us something much different.

Instead of us having to go to HIM, HE came to us.  He was born of a virgin in the humblest of conditions, suffered and died a sinners death, but rose back to life overcoming the grave.  We don't have to work to get to HIM, HE's already come to us.  Repent of your sin and believe the gospel.

Jesus is ALIVE!  Let that beautiful truth sink in deeply to your heart and mind as you live in Christ Jesus.

Good word and food for thought. I would like to add the following.

I do not try to be good enough, I desire to strive for holiness because He calls us to be holy as He is holy. There are two parts to holiness that apply to us. At new birth we receive Jesus and His holiness and righteousness is imputed to us. We are positionally holy because of our new life in Him and the Holy Spirit in us. Then there is experiential holiness. This relates directly to our new lives and how they are lived out for the glory of God because we love Him. There is a right way to live and a right reason to live that way. We never attempt to live right in order to appease God, but rather because we love Him we seek to please Him. Our salvation is not dependent upon our experiential holiness, but rather our experiential holiness should be a direct outflow of our new life in Him. Our interneral relationship should begin to dictate our outward actions. Religion tries to change the outward person hoping to thereby change the inner person. That is completely backwards. The inward new life is a work of God, a transformation that brings us from spiritually dead to spiritually alive in Him.

Amen.  Thanks LT
