All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Ok, what does a person do if he/she ever gets tangled up in a discussion with a cult saying the trinity is a pagan three headed god? When they have so called "proof". And, they won't listen to the other person's reason. It's like they can't hear, like a spiritual ear wax.

Trying to talk to them about the trinity is pretty much wasting good breath, it's worse than talking to a wall.

Hi. Please say a prayer. For I noticed I have a hard time praying to God when I'm talking to others. It's like when my mouth is talking it's hard to tell God my thoughts. Know what I mean?

I need to rely on Jesus more...

I know they'll attack and say the Trinity is pagan.

Have you discussed the Trinity with JW before?

I'm sorry if my message sounds choppy. I'm just very anxious right now...

Is there a nickname? I want to pray for her.

Ok, that's where I need help. I'm not very strong in my beliefs when it comes to their questions and arguments. I get tounge tied. Especially, when they try to tell me a proof from the watchtower.

Hi Feet, God bless you!

Prayer is a good idea. Don't do what I did, I had someone tell me I'm living in sin and going to hell. I got angry about it, but that didn't accomplish very much either. I learned retaliation doesn't work. I  forgot I'm not responsible for their reactions. They are.

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare. (Proverbs 15:1)

And use restraint. Just a little at a time. When you feed a baby, you start out with milk. A baby can't handle a steak. When someone isn't getting a basic doctrine, he or she is a baby in understanding. Personal opinion, please nobody verbally flog me. A little at a time and then they may return to hear more. I've done this before. I'll teach something simple. And then stop. I believe the word works in people's hearts. I pray that they will come back for more. Patience is important.

Love and God bless,

Mary

Hi Mary, God bless you!

Thanks! You're right telling them they're going to hell won't work too well(they don't even believe in hell, they just believe it's the common grave, anyway).

The problem is they get their doctrine from a corputed bible and watchtowers (which is based). They, as babies, automatically spit out the milk as soon as it's tasted.

Love and God bless,

Make them justify a causal connection between the said myth and the Trinitarian concept. When you recognise that this idea of one divine being being expressed in three distinct persons is completely foreign to the first-century Judaistic understanding of God, this claim fails to carry any traction. Moreover, remember that the Trinity is an inference from Scripture -- the word "Trinity" does not appear and the concept is not as clearly articulated as it is by the church fathers (e.g. Tertullian) and the Nicean creed.

Unitarians such as Jehovah's witnesses and Muslims often claim that the Trinity was "invented" at the council of Nicea. This assertion does not carry any weight, however, as I explain here: http://apologeticsuk.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/what-really-happened-at...
