All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

This is the thought which came into my mind long ago, thought of sharing and getting others' views too.

We see suffering in our lives. One way or other way everyone is suffering. The questions which I would like to ask is

"Why there is suffering"

 "Is it for all including me"

I would like to get answers for these questions from bible.

For every question, in order to get an answer, normally I go to the Genesis first. My immediate question is "Was the first man created to suffer"

When God created the humankind in the world, there was no suffering!

Suffering entered into this word, because of disobedience of the first man.

Is there anybody exempt from suffering?

Would like to know what you think?

No, no one is exempt from suffering, and everyone suffers, whether saved or lost.

I believe Jesus, who knew no sin, suffered more than anyone has ever suffered on this earth -- an Innocent Sufferer. Jesus was an innocent sufferer.

A.B. Simpson said, ""We must never forget that Christ did not suffer just during His three years of public ministry or the last few days of His life when He was crucified. No, He suffered throughout His life on earth. He who was without sin lived daily with the corruption and sinfulness of lost humanity."

God knew from the beginning that man would never measure up to His standards so the lamb was slain from the foundation of the world. The death of Jesus was determined before Adam and Eve ever sinned and before the Fall of mankind. The Son of God chose to take on human form and to live a perfect life without ever sinning Himself and then to take on human sin and to pay the penalty for that sin.

Isaiah 53:10-12
English Standard Version (ESV)
10 Yet it was the will of the Lord to crush him;
    he has put him to grief;[a]
when his soul makes[b] an offering for guilt,
    he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days;
the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see[c] and be satisfied;
by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,
    make many to be accounted righteous,
    and he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,[d]
    and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,[e]
because he poured out his soul to death
    and was numbered with the transgressors;
yet he bore the sin of many,
    and makes intercession for the transgressors.

Thanks Amanda for your response. Yes no one is exempt from suffering.

The fact is suffering entered into the world through one man's disobedience and affected the entire humankind.

Both the sinner and the righteous are subjected to the sufferings of the world.

Now, there comes the savior, the innocent sufferer who carried all our sufferings with him in the cross.

Isaiah 53:5 "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."

Jesus carried all our transgressions and sufferings!

Hi Laus,

As we look to the scriptures we see the people who have gone before us have suffered.  The bible is quite straight forward and honest about the problem of suffering and how it came into the world.

The Christian worldview is the one that makes the most sense out of suffering.  Amanda has given you a great reminder that The One True God that we worship and trust has suffered more than any of us have.  Jesus Christ came down to earth to reconcile us back to God.

He suffered, died, was buried, rose back to life, and He will come again.  He took on all of the consequences of sin and death on to Himself so that we might be reconciled to God.  Our choice is to repent and believe the good news that Jesus died for us.  There is an essential emptiness in every life without Christ and only God can fill it;

There is a cosmic loneliness in people; People have a universal sense of guilt and there is a universal fear of death.

Jesus Christ is the answer to all that humanity is searching for.

Jesus Christ fills us and heals the emptiness and loneliness, Hebrews 13:5

He removes the stain of sin so that guilt can no longer have place in our hearts, Romans 8:1

and there is no fear of death because we know that with God we have spiritual life.  When we die and leave this earth, we are reassured that we will be with God. 1 Cor 15:55; 2 Cor 5:8

Suffering is very real and the bible is very honest about that... But we are not left with just the problem and without hope.

Our hope and rest is found in Jesus Christ

I don't believe that Adam and Eve were created to suffer... I believe they were created to love and be loved.... all for relationship.  The suffering came because they chose to believe satan over believing God.

What are your thoughts?

Blessings, Carla

Thanks Carla for your thoughts on this.

I never said Adam and eve were created to suffer. I raised a question on the same.

God created both Adam and Eve for the best life......no sufferings.

But the disobedience of the first man separated humankind from God and invoked sufferings on them.

The same suffering/curse is passed onto all ....

But the good part for us is, as you said "Our hope is found in Christ"

Christ came into the world to save us, carried all our sufferings and pains for us and redeemed us.

Isaiah 53:5 "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."

Thanks,

Laus

Hi Laus,

"Thanks Carla for your thoughts on this.

I was answering your question..  For clarity I should have worded it differently... Perhaps I could have said "In answer to your question...."

Blessings, Carla

Just I remembered another verse

"See, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes"

Ecclesiastes 7:29

It's true that men try on their own to make themselves upright, but they cannot.. only God can.  I'm curious as to why you posted this verse?

I wanted to say, God is a perfect creator!....creator of perfect things!

YES!  He is.  And in His Perfection, He is altogether Lovely!

We first have to recognize that suffering comes in many different forms and in different degrees of intensity.

Trials and tribulations are part of this life, none are exempt.

Lord Bless,
LT

Yes. True.

As said in Ecclesiastes 9:2

"It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice."

But above all,

As psalmist said,

"for the LORD knows the way of the righteous"

...

No one is exempt from suffering, but if a person who is suffering is not of Christ then it is in vain.
