All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I have been praying regarding a certain situation in my life. I have been separated for the past 6 months from my wife. I am really trying to understand what the Lord is trying to tell me at times. It seems like the more that I pray the worse things get. I start getting frustrated that the situation is getting worse and I feel like giving up on my prayers. Then within a day or so I get this peace about it again and continue praying for my marriage. Im trying to understand if the Lord is giving me this peace about the situation so I will continue to pray or am I getting that peace because I want my marriage restored? Im asking this question because Im trying to figure out how to listen to what God is trying to tell me. It gets really frustrating at times because I know that Im dealing with another persons free will when it comes to my prayers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless

Brother Stephen, God bless you!

I will pray with you. You are focusing on things that are out of your control. There comes a point when you have to say...God, this is more than I can handle. This is yours. I give it all to you. And then you mean it and don't take it back a few days later. Your focus is strong, are you putting God's happiness first? Have you thought about what pleases God? Maybe you could shift your prayers and pray for your wife's happiness, and ask God to show you what makes you happy too. I'm just offering ideas. Sometimes someone on the outside looking in can see things you can't because you are in the middle of the problem and the thick of it.

If 6 months from now you are still in the same place, maybe you need a different approach and different thoughts. Sometimes we need to change how we are doing things and get released from a spiritual jail so to speak. He wants us to walk in freedom and newness of life.

In Romans 12:1,2 it talks about offering ourselves living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God, that this is true and proper worship. We shouldn't conform to the pattern of this world. We make patterns. We have to ask ourselves, are we in a pattern? We are to be transformed and renew our minds. Do and think something different like the Word of God. We will be able to prove what that good, perfect and acceptable will of God is.

Love,

Mary

Brother, I just wanted you to know that I'm praying about this situation. I would love to reply to more of your discussion but to be honest, I don't know what to say. I have no clue what the Lord is trying to do in your life & marriage. However, in those moments of peace, just praise Him for His peace that surpasses all understanding. I pray things begin to become clear soon.

I think the answer is Both.  God is certainly pleased with your desire that your marriage be restored.

I join you in your prayer, for each of you.

Think of it like a triangl. The closer we press into Jesus the stronger our relationships with one's we surround ourselves will be (Jesus is at the point of that triangle-always). Put God first above all & Jesus will work miracles

Im trying to understand if the Lord is giving me this peace about the situation so I will continue to pray or am I getting that peace because I want my marriage restored?

I personally don't believe it's either, but that the Lord is giving you this peace, not so that you WILL pray but because you do pray.

I think we're told to pray without ceasing because where are our minds when praying? First we're focused on God, we're not focused on our troubles. With practice, we learn this more and more.

God is against divorce, but He's also against taking away our freewill. But if she sees you at peace, it just might start her to wondering.
