All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

As a new member of your family I would like to request your prayers for me.  I am a single mother and my son has just started college.  I lost my job in November last year due to unfair labor practice and have not since found employment.  I am very stressed about my current situation and I seek God all day and every day, praying for help.  I find it difficult to relax and trust although I firmly believe that God is aware of my situation and that a breakthrough will come.

I am praying. Prayer is the best and first thing to do. Could I offer a suggestion? You can recover from this. You didn't say what kind of work experience you have. It's easier to move around once you're employed. Have you tried temporary work? Sometimes you can start temporary at a company looking to expand the job into permanent work. Some temporary services offer computer training to their temporary workers. I worked for Top Temporary and Kelly Services for a while. You may pick up training or counseling on how to find a job, how to build a resume. Some employers don't have time to review resumes as much as they should. Perhaps you could streamline your resume. My employer uses a search for key words. My resume has about 20 of the words on the list. An employer's computer will search for a number of these words. Also use a simple font like maybe arial. Also, write down what you are looking for. You want something easy to get to by car or by bus. What kind of hours are you looking for. You get the idea. Temporary work can help you overcome loss of employment due to unfair labor practices.

Have you ever tried archery? You don't just pick up an arrow load it in the bow and shoot anywhere. You focus, steady yourself and take aim. I have a certain way I stand and how I hold my arm. I tend to overshoot so I adjust accordingly. I'm not saying aim low. If I want to get a bulls eye, that's just what I have to do. I know how I shoot arrows. My shot is going to go high and miss the target entirely if I don't adjust. Be true to yourself. Know your package of what you have to offer, but be willing to adjust and add or change some things too. Setting goals is like shooting an arrow. The more focused you are the better. I think of a goal as a purposeful focus. It's just like shooting for a target. If you get focused, then you will know when something isn't right for you. Like something 30 miles from your home, that's probably not for you. You don't waste a lot of time on something that will never work in the first place. Your son is in college, maybe you can think about night work now? Night work may offer a shift differential. You are single and your child is in college, you are more flexible now.

Love,

Mary
