All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I have been reading the Left Behind Series. I don't necessarily believe everything that is written in them but do respect their interpretations. I'm on the last book which is where the Lord has returned to set up His new heaven & new earth. There are a couple of questions I would like your opinion on. During the millennium, there will be the possibility of sin. How can this be without the presence of evil? He's chained up & the only presence is that of Christ.

Isaiah 65:20 No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, Nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; For the child shall die one hundred years old, But the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.  Is this verse saying that if they don't accept Christ they will die before or at 100 years?

Isaiah 65:17 For behold, I create new heavens & a new earth; And the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.  Does this mean that we won't remember anything from our past which seems kinda sad to me.

No one will marry or given in marriage. If this is the case, who will be having the children?

Why is Satan released for a time? Now, this one I know no one has the answer for but I would love to hear your speculations. Thanks ahead of time for the replies.

I've never read the series. I've watched only two of the movies made based on the series. It's my understanding from scripture that the thousand year reign of Christ will be on this earth, and at the end of the thousand years, there will be the second resurrection and the Great White Throne Judgment, and once Satan is in the lake of fire alongwith all those who are raised in the second resurrection, then God will make a new heaven and a new earth.

Thanks for your prompt reply Amanda. It is most appreciated.

That's how I'm kinda reading it if these books are based on facts.

There are a number of views and I think in the end we will all be surprised by how God works it out. With that said I will give you one of the views that seems to explain some and will try to keep it succinct.

There is a point in time when ...

... the Holy Spirit will be removed as the Restrainer.

... the church will be pulled out.

... the Great Tribulation.

... God returns to His work and plan with the nation of Israel as the church age comes to an end.

... all of the judgments (bowls, trumpets, as scrolls) come to pass.

... great loss of life on earth.

... Jesus returns and locks away Satan, but their are inhabitants still on the earth besides the returning church.

It is these inhabitants, of which most believe who follow this line of thinking, who the remnant of the nation of Israel. Saved through (meaning did not lose their life) the Great Tribulation, but not saved (born again). Jesus establishes the millennial kingdom on the old earth and we, the church, rule with Him over these inhabitants. The Bible tells us that when Satan is locked away that he will no longer deceive the nations, until the end of the 1000 years. These being deceived here cannot be the children of God for we have been fully enlightened at this point having been with Christ and sealed with the Holy Spirit.

There are several things that can take place during the 1000 year period related to the nations ...

... they will be able to multiply.

... they will be able to die.

... though ruled with an iron scepter they will have liberty (freedom of choice) as seen in the final rebellion.

There are also promises that still must be fulfilled regarding the nation of Israel and some of these it is believed will not be fulfilled until the millennial reign of Christ. During this 1000 year period you have the nations living on the earth and they will multiply. The long and short of it is that at the end of the 1000 years when Satan is released and these nations, especially the children of the nations will rebel against Christ. We find that after all this time unregenerated man has not changed. Just like Israel of old they would rather have another king rule over them instead of God, and in this case they align with Satan choosing Him over Jesus. They come to do war and Jesus ends it swiftly and the final battle is over. All that is left is the raising and judging of the dead (the lost) followed by the new heaven, new earth and the new Jerusalem.

Again, in the end I think we will be surprised at how God actually works it all out. I am not of the camp that believes we can figure it all out. I present the above as a plausible food for thought and do not give it as fact, nor will I try to defend it as I am not sold on it, but do see how it can answer some of the mysterious questions ... if it is right. Lastly I gave this from memory, as I have not studied this in depth for a while, and could have some of it off a little :-)

Thank you LT

Welcome

They are based on interpretation of scripture.  Only God knows the real "facts".  I've read all of them and seen all of the movies with Kirk Cameron who I believe to be a good Christian man and puts out some very good Christian films ("Unstoppable", "Fireproof").  And I truly loved the Left Behind series.

I don't know about the other questions, but the one about "who will be having the children" is easy.  Mary was not married.  So how'd she get pregnant?  ;-)

But that's no fun Char. Who wants to be impregnated by a Spirit? We need a little extra joy on the side since we gotta carry them 9 months & go thru the pains of child birth.

We get the joy of changing their diapers, having them walk all over us then one day break our hearts.  What more could you want?
