All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I am a sinner, for I am human. I acted on something I know is wrong. I believe Jesus is working on my on me, I can feel it. But today I let him down. I feel guilty and I don't know how many times God sill forgive me for committing the same sin, that I have prayed for Jesus to help me with. I felt I was on the right path and then I reacted on something I had been avoiding for a month. It's a strong bond there and a lot of memories that are very wonderful, but I know need break away cause it is wrong. How can I possibly continue to ask for forgiveness when I have asked yet company times before. What I'm asking is how much can he take from me. I have been told this journey is not easy. I have always believed that Jesus is my savior and I accepted him some years ago. I have just really searched for him and felt his presence. I have started to change some sinful ways to become a better Christian. I just don't know how to stop this sinful desire that I have??

 Dear friend,

You want to know how many times God can forgive you? once!!! And that was when He died and rose from the dead. That was once and for all time. He doesn’t say for you to ask Him for forgiveness, He says in 1 John 1:8-10 (KJV)
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Romans 8:3 (KJV)

3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Matthew 18:21-22 (KJV)

21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. So is Jesus going to tell us to do something that He himself wouldn’t do?

The Gospel; “the good news” is, your sins are forgiven. Now He wants us to start cleansing ourselves from the corruption of this world. That can’t be done over night, it takes a little while, more time for some than others. But He is not imputing your sins against you. So you don’t have to beg Him every time you sin. So when you received Christ as your savior, you were sealed with that Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 (KJV)
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, You don’t quit sinning to become Holy, you are Holy and you use that Holiness to quit sinning. You don’t have the power to quit sinning on your own, it takes a work of the Holy Spirit to help you live a holy life.

Fear not my child, for He hath said that He will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Heb.13:5.

You was an old sinner, but now you have been saved by grace and you are now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus

Quote”I just don't know how to stop this sinful desire that I have?? ”

Here’s your answer, James 4:7-8 (KJV)
7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Blessings to you,

Joe

Janelle,

As well as what Joe and Char said, I think mind renewal has a part to play in this as well. You have got to change your mind to think as God would have you to think. This is a life long process. I, above all, know how difficult it can be. A good way to start might be to read all the things the Bible has to say about the particular sin you are committing, or something close to it. As you study what God says about this particular sin, you might be better equipped to lay the sin aside.

Blessings,

Rita

I just feel so guilty, so unrewarding of his love and forgiveness. I know he is working on me and I think I expected his works to be fast and miraculous and that has not been the case. I have to accept that it is going to be a long journey for me and I will fall short of his glory! I thank everyone for their inspiring scriptures and words and I love Jesus and have to be patient on what the Father has planned for my purpose. All of your comments have been truly thought through and I thank you.
