All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

How do you get the motivation to stay in tune with the bible? For a while it has been hard for me to keep up with the word, when i get the idea to read the bible..i automatically put it off and do something else..reading the bible and keeping my faith and living the way God wants me to live is very hard for me...so how do i keep my head above water??? Also, I still pray hoping to keep some kind of connection with God and for some reason He still answers my prayers even when i dont feel like i deserve it. He is loving and caring. Thank you for your time and answers <3

“What does love look like?” is the question I’ve been pondering
“What does love look like?”
“What does love look like?” is the question I’ve been asking of You

I once believed that love was romance, just a chance
I even thought that love was for the lucky and the beautiful
I once believed that love was a momentary bliss
But love is more than this
All You ever wanted was my attention
All You ever wanted was love from me
All You ever wanted was my affections, to sit here at Your feet

Then I sat down, a little frustrated and confused
If all of life comes down to love
Then love has to be more than sentiment
More than selfishness and selfish gain

And then I saw Him there, hanging on a tree, looking at me
I saw Him there, hanging on a tree, looking at me
He was looking at me, looking at Him, staring through me
I could not escape those beautiful eyes
And I began to weep and weep

He had arms wide open, a heart exposed
Arms wide open; He was bleeding, bleeding

Love’s definition, love’s definition was looking at me
Looking at Him, hanging on a tree
I began to weep and weep and weep and weep

This is how I know what love is, this is how I know what love is

And as I sat there weeping, crying
Those beautiful eyes, full of desire and love

He said to me, “You shall love Me, You shall love Me
You shall love Me, You shall love Me”

With arms wide open, a heart exposed
With arms wide open, bleeding, sometimes bleeding

If anybody’s looking for love in all the wrong places
If you’ve been searching for love, come to Me, come to Me
Take up your cross, deny yourself
Forget your father’s house and run, run with Me
You were made for abandonment, wholeheartedness
You were made for someone greater, someone bigger, so follow Me
And You’ll come alive when you learn to die

Hi Sandra,

As you know it's a Spiritual battle we are in and satan's underlings know the distractions that will move us away from our Lord.  Ask God to give you the desire to read His Word and be closer to Him, and also to live in complete abandon to Him.  He will give it to you.  Start small.  Read the psalms and proverbs according to the day.  For instance, today you would read psalm 28 and proverbs 28 because it is the 28th of the month.  Choose another book in addition to that and read how ever much you are lead to.  Tell the Lord you need His help..  He loves to answer those prayers.

Blessings, Carla

So many ways to stay motivated. I want the community to help us out with this one. :)

Think about how awful life is without Christ. Things that do not up set us with Christ, turn into a big deal without him etc....

When I came back to the Lord, after a long time away from Him, I prayed for a thirst for the Word of God. He gave it to me, and it hasn't abated at all...in fact, I think it's even stronger now that ever before.

One of the thing Paul tells us is

2 cDo not be conformed to this world,3 but be transformed by dthe renewal(regeneration) of your mind, that by testing you may ediscern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.4

c 1 Pet. 1:14; [1 John 2:15]
3 Greek age
d Titus 3:5; [Ps. 51:10; 2 Cor. 4:16; Eph. 4:23; Col. 3:10]
e Eph. 5:10; 1 Thess. 4:3
4 Or what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God
The Holy Bible : English Standard Version. Wheaton : Standard Bible Society, 2001, S. Ro 12:2
As a Christian, your spirit is in complete harmony with God but your mind (soul) needs to be regenerated to being in tune with your spirit. It is up to you to get spirit and soul in harmony but I think that you can pray for this as well and the Lord will help you with it. When you mind starts to regenerate (renew), you are able to see things in a *new light* and a new perspective. Our minds stay in the *renewal mode* for our lifetimes(continues in renewal), enabling us to see more and more of what God wants us to see, be what God wants us to be, and ultimately be able to understand and take hold of all God wants us to have.
Many blessings to you as you work towards the renewed mind that God wants all of us to have...
Rita
