All About GOD

All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I hear and see this statement all the time; at the end of emails, on signs, in coversation. My question is, why SHOULD He? Not can or will or does or want to; but why should He bless America? Better yet, why should we expect Him to?

I like this. I really can't answer the question. I have always thought that God will bless the nations that bless Israel. I am not sure we are a Christian nation anymore. I think we need missionaries here as bad as Africa needs them.

We don't deserve any good gift from God, least of all heaven. Thankfully God is merciful and longsuffering and God's compassions fail not. I was thinking of Abraham interceding in Genesis 18, Will not the judge of all the earth do right? Do you think that sometimes God waits to do what is in His will to do until we pray? As long as people are asking God to bless America, maybe that means it is in His will.

He should bless America! Why,because  I believe if I want God to forgive me then I should forgive others.I believe it also applies to every other aspect. It is not our place to say or question whether God shoukd bless America or not.If In that position I believe we are wrong!

Dear Bev

I agree that this is a really good question.   In the natural I don't feel that there is any reason to bless this nation. We are certainly not deserving of His blessing , but then as individuals we did not deserve  the mercy and grace He has shown us.

Possibly He should just to prove the unsearchable riches of His grace to all.  I'm just afraid that very few would appreciate it and give Him the glory for it if He did , however.   Wether He will or not depends on Americans themselves , but  there is really no reason that He should.

I'm afraid that that's all I can come up with at this time .

God bless you , my friend

I agree Bev, most folks don't really understand what they are asking when they say God Bless America. It's kida like saying Bless You when someone sneezes. I don't think most people truly mean God Bless You. They say it to be polite, not really to ask for the blessing.

Just a thought. Do you think some people say it really meaning, or pointing out, that America is a strong or great nation? Do they say it out of arrogance? Feeling somehow we are so great and powerful that we deserve Gods blessing? I don't know.

As far as deserving it? Probably not. I do agree with Amanda. If we walk away from Israel, we are all done dancing as a nation.

Now that you have brought this up, maybe I'll say, "God have mercy on America instead"

Great question, now I have another question to ponder tonight at Bible study. I'll ask the same question tonight and let you know what folks think.

God is soooo cooool

Gary

Excellent Word, Char.

Thanks for posting it.

Blessings,

Rita

To continue...

God has blessed our nation mightily. Our problem is that some of us don't recognize the blessings that He has bestowed upon us. We have people coming into this country that don't recognize God for Who He is. Their homeland doesn't recognize welfare, they recognize starvation. The ones who steal and murder are taught that in their own country. We Christians are the only ones that recognize The Most High God as the final authority. His Blessings will not be withdrawn from His children, because of the ways of those who do not belong to Him.

God is my Final Authority...that is why I recognize some of the newer laws of this land as bogus.

God continues to bless me constantly...and that is why I ask Him to bless the people of this nation.

We are entering into an era where we need to stand and be counted as children of the Most High God. We need to speak out for God and not let Him be silenced.

The country speaks of separation of church and state...people have no idea of what is intended by that phrase. They have changed the meaning of it to mean that God is to have no part of our nation. How dumb can one get and still breathe??

Our nation was founded on God, and Christ, but the eraser that is being used is not big enough or durable enough to erase Him from our existence. We all, as children of God, need to stand and be counted.

My blessings to you in the Name of Christ, our Lord....

Rita

WE AS AMERICANS CHRISTIAN SHOULD BE PRAYING FOR GOD TO BLESS US, ALTHOUGH WE AS CHRIST FOLLOWERS HAVE LET OUR LEADERS (GOVERNMENT ) TURN THEIR BACKS ON GOD. THEY HAVE REMOVED HIM FROM SCHOOLS AND PUBLIC BUILDINGS. HIS LAWS ARE GROUNDED IN OUR NATIONS FOUNDING. AS CHRIST FOLLOWERS WE SHOULD BE LIKE THE PROPHETS OF OLD AND INTERCEDE FOR OUR NATION, AS CHRIST FOLLOWERS ARE WE NOT JUST .DO WE JUST TAKE GOD FOR WHAT HE CAN DO FOR US? WE SHOULD BE SPEAKING OUT AGAINST THE THINGS THAT GOD'S WORD TELLS US ARE UNJUST... AND PRAYING FOR OUR LEADERS TO WAKE UP AND LEAD US BACK TO THE WAYS OF GOD AND PRAY THAT GOD WILL BLESS AMERICA .BECAUSE WE ARE HEAD IN THE WRONG DIRECTION...WE AS CHRISTINS SHOULD BE STANDING UP AND LEADING THE PRAYER ...

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and

turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal

their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

“Now my eyes will be open, and my ears attentive

to the prayers offered in this place.” (2 Chronicles 7:15)

I WOULD HAVE TO SAY YES HE HEARS BUT WILL HE ANSWER NO...WHEN WE CHOSE JESUS AS OUR LORD, WE CHOSE TO MODEL OURSELVES AFTER HIM. FROM HIS LIFE WE LEARN TO SEEK GOD EARNESTLY NOT JUST WHEN IT SUITS OUR PURPOSE,WE ARE TO REPENT AND TURN FROM OUR WICKED WAYS(SIN). WE CAN NOT BE ON THE SIDE OF SCRIPTURE AND NOT BE SEEKING HIS FACE, IF SO WE ARE JUST LIKE THE SEED THAT FELL ON ROCKY GROUND "ALL SHOW "AND NO GODLINESS OR WILLINGNESS TO LEARN HIS WAYS (SEEKING HIS FACE). STUDY THE WORD, MEDITIATE ON THE WORD, LIVE THE WORD!!!

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Proverbs 28:9

9He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Proverbs 28:9 The Message (MSG)

9 God has no use for the prayers of the people who won't listen to him.

There isn't one of us who needs a country to fall short of the glory of God. It is by grace. We are justified freely, it is by His choice and not ours. It is a gift. We can come boldly before the throne of grace. It's a matter of trust.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (Romans 3:23-24)

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)

I pray that He will bless America, and I ask for mercy. We need Him!  Jesus has what I need. And I ask God to move in a mighty way. I ask Him for revival. And that His Word prevails. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Interesting, when we were younger, Gary and I were sent as missionaries to New York. Tough crowd. We won some folks.

Love and God bless,

Mary

hey Mary! I'm from New York!! tough crowd eh? lol...I'm about an hour north of NYC.....where r u from?

In Minnesnowta now. We originally thought we'd go to maybe Colorado. We were shocked when they asked us to go to New York. We spent a good chunk of time in Buffalo, Albany, Niagara, and Rochester. These are the places we stayed the longest. I don't remember all the places we went. Yeah, I'm used to MN-nice as the phrase goes. I vaguely remember beating around the bush trying to figure out how to mention Christ to someone. I'm not that great at starting a conversation. This New Yorker asked me....Just exactly what is it you are trying to say to me? Not that it speaks for all New Yorkers, but we found ourselves preaching Christ amongst mob-type persons. We didn't know who they were. A New York-native explained it to us that we were preaching to the mob. Well, they need to hear about Christ too. One of my grandfathers made gin in northern Iowa and the other was a bank robber. That's a tough crowd too. I get it now why God would want us to go there.

Love,

Mary
