All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Does anyone know much about generational curses? Is it true that once you accept Jesus, the curse is broken? Or am I mistaken?

Hi Kayla,

It depends on who you ask.

Scripture tells us if we love God and follow His commands then he extends his blessings to a thousand generations. http://bible.cc/exodus/20-6.htm

Got questions has something on this here: http://www.gotquestions.org/generational-curses.html

If you ask a "Deliverance Teacher" you most likely will get a different answer.

In Him

Hey girl,

What today is called generational curses many times it’s simply what we also refer to as the consequences of the sins of our ancestors or immediate parents. There is no denying that our parent’s sins do affect us for the good or for the bad. For the good in that we don't want to make the same mistakes that they committed and for the bad, because we often do as they did, due to the fact that we learn not so much by what they say, but what they do. We do not have to have a PHD to know that dysfunctional homes created a multitude of problems for the children in those homes.

Some in the body of Christ today do believe that the Old Testament scriptures that speak about generational curses remain applicable to today's born again Christian, but that is scripturally in-correct. God did away with generational curses and now holds the sins of every man only against the individual.

When we are born again we are New Creations and we are then cover by the blood of the lamb. His perfect life and sacrifice are placed on our account. Hallelujah!!! ...old things have pass away, behold...

Some of us get radical external experiences and some of us don't get them, but the internal REGENERATION has happened in both, so we all get a radical internal one.

Some of us are drastically changed when we come to Christ, but we remain a work in progress, but we are NOT under any curse AFTER we receive Christ as Lord and Savior of our lives through repentance of our sins. True repentance and not just lip service. I do find that for some in the body of Christ that were involve in the occult etc... Renouncing those practices as they repent and believe or after their born again experience, does help them.

There is much more that can be said about the topic and I am sure you will get more posts here, but in summary, your understanding that curses are broken as we come to Christ, is very true.

It is always good to see you around here sis.
