Well, as a Christian, we believe there is only one God that is in 3 persons as the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit. In Matthew 3:16-17 we see all 3 persons in 1 place: As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.”  These 3 are one God, co-equal and co-eternal, having precisely the same nature and attributes, and worthy of precisely the same worship & obedience. These 3 persons make up our 1 God. His real name is YHWH. Other names are Yahweh, Jehovah, Elohim, Adonai, El Shaddai, & I Am among many others. 

God needed a perfect sacrifice to cover over the depth of our sins. For thousands of years, they sacrificed animals of different kinds which foreshadowed the perfect sacrifice that was to come - Christ. Only though His sacrifice could forgiveness be realized. Animals were a constant sacrificial ceremony where as Christ was a one-time only sacrifice. “for then He would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.” Hebrews 9:26

There are many verses of why Jesus came but the ultimate reason was to die so that we may live. 

“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” John 12:46

“The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.” 1 Timothy 1:15

“Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8

Through His sacrifice, we have life. Glory to His Name.

Testing the Spirits

4 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 5 They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
