Dear Lenmore,

Scripture tells us this:
1Th 4:13 ¶ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1Th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1Th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1Th 4:17 Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Th 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1Th 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Rev 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

I believe in the pre-trib rapture because Scripture supports it.

Greetings Lenmore,

There are two aspects to this subject that is debated frequently.

1) Will there be an actual rapture?
2) When will it occur?

The rapture is pictured as a "catching up" of believers and is evident in 1 Thessalonians 4. The reality of the event is quite evident. The timing of the event is not so clear. There are a variety of views. Some of the views are pre-trib, mid-trib, pre-wrath and post-trib. There are some verses that can be selected, if chosen independently, to support all of the views. When the verses are kept in context it narrows the field some. I personally believe that Scripture teaches that we will go deep into the tribulation and the more I study the end-times it appears that we will go through the majority, if not the full tribulation. This is not the popular view of today, but one must not choose their position based upon popularity.

There are several key verses and terms to study. 1 Thessalonians 4 and 5, 1 Corinthians 15, Matthew 24 and 25, and the last trumpet.

Regardless of when one thinks the rapture will occur, I teach the following: Work as if the rapture were going to happen tomorrow and prepare as if you will go through the full tribulation.

God bless for all the scriture quotes and the inspirational words .i celebrated on the part that you said (work as
if rapture will occur tomorrow ). i believe we must be watchful everyday ,every second and every breathe . Carla i also view rapture as a spiritual event whereby if you dont have the holy spirit you wont make it
Margaret,

I understand your POV very well. I understand most of the various arguments for the various views pretty well. Here is something to ponder. The omission of the church by name after chapter 3 does not in of itself cause one to preclude that the church has been withdrawn. There are several reasons why this alone cannot be the determining factor. 1) The Book of Revelation is not written in chronological order, but rather is layered. 2) The churches that are mentioned are specific churches and not the universal church. 3) In order to believe in the rapture, regardless of the time frame of it, one must look to other Scripture in order for that doctrine to be revealed. Matthew 24 and 25, 1 Corinthains 15, 1 Thessalonians 4 and 5 and parts of 2 Peter help us in that regard. Without other Scripture aiding in our understanding of the rapture one would have no reason to believe the church is withdrawn until the very end based on the Book of Revelation to the exception of no specific mention of the church after chapter 3.

I respect your view and acknowledge that I am not sure of the timing of the rapture. I have an opinion based on what I see in Scripture, thus I take the position that we are to "work as if the rapture were going to happen tomorrow and prepare as if we are going to go through the full tribulation."

Hey Margaret,

Two cents? Felt like a dime ... LOL and just kidding. Good input.

Many view It as layered in that some of the events overlap. The timeline is not sequential. Regarding the churches that are listed there are several views. Here are two popular ones. 1) Literally seven churches of that era. 2) They represent seven different church eras leading up to the end.

There is much more we don't know that we do kow regarding the end IMO.

Andrew,

I Thessalonians 4 has the most direct statments relating to the rapture. Born-again believers will be 'caught up" to the Lord, which is what rapture means. In Revelation 19 we see the Wedding Banquet. This wedding banquet is for Jesus and His bride, the church. This takes place before He returns on the white horese to set up the millennial kingdom. All born-again believers are part of the church and are thus the bride. 1 Thessalonians 4 makes it clear that some will be alive in the flesh when the rapture tales place. If the rapture does not take place before the wedding banquet, some would miss the banquet that is being thrown for them.

The time of the event is heavily debated by many groups. I will list seveeral and add a brief understanding of their view.

Pre-trib: The rapture takes place before the start of the great tribulation.
Mid-trib: The rapture takes place at the mid-way point (3 1/2 years) of the great tribulation.
Post-trib: The rapture takes place at the end of the great tribulation.
Pre-wrath: The repture takes place prior to the wrath of God being poured out.
No rapture: There are those who do not believe in the rapture at all.

I agree with both Carla and Lt and will only add:

Come Lord, Lord Come... Your people await you my king.
Work as if the rapture were going to happen tomorrow and prepare as if you will go through the full tribulation.
