All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Church Shopping
Recently a family member informed me she was looking for a new congergation to work with. Basically the reason was that she felt that her needs were not being met. At first I thought little of it and wished her success in her search. now I am in the process of doing the same. Why? There is a personal reason which I am not sure is a reason to leave the congergation I have been with since 1972. So why leave? I am a "meat & patatoes" man that is I enjoy good and healthy food. As a diabetic (and other health issues) I need to eat appropriate foods that will help maintain a healthy life style. In my "church shopping" I am beginning to discover that this is not an easy task. I want, no, I NEED to find a place of worship that will help me maintain a healthy spiritual lifestyle. The congergation I am presently with consists of wonderful and caring people who strive to "work out their salvation with fear and trembling." However, like I said I am a person who needs more "meat" in my spiritual diet. "Devotional" style sermons are ok from time to time but we need more "filling." I find too often that sermons are more "generalized" than being more specific. There needs to be a more personalized touch in teachings, worship, fellowship. My drawback is I work 3 out of 4 Sundays and find myself rushing home to get ready in time so my fellowship is limited.
Before going on a shopping spree one needs to first decide what they need ("wants" are like the icing on a cake which one likes but not necessarily needs). Where does one go to get the quality for the best price. How do I choose what is best for me without compromising my faith and my morals? I have cvhecked out a few places but red flags were raised in my mind and decided to avoid them. Here is my criteria and it may sound general but to me it is very important.
(1). Any "church" I choose must be strictly Biblical
(2). The "church" must have sound Biblical teaching
(3). The "church" must demonstrate Christ to the fullest (I am not saying 100% perfection for none are 100% perfect yet strive for spiritual maturity)
(4). The "church" must have a Christ centered fellowship.
Now the question must also be considered "What does the "church" expect from me?
(1). I must seek to strive for holiness and spiritual maturity
(2). What am I able to contribute to the congergation? Being a "pew warmer" is not acceptable.
(3). I must be willing to reach out and use my God given talents to the glory of God and for the well being of my brethren.
(4). I must love as Christ loves to be Christ like in all I say,do & think.
I should not be "church shopping" for the following.
(1). I feel neglected
(2). I feel feel like people are avoiding
(3). To get back at them for being neglected (ok..you don't care about me so I'm leaving)
(4). You don't care to use my talents so I'm leaving
(5). Hoping people will pay me more attention than they do here
(6). Hard feelings against others
The above sound simple and almost silly only thing is I know they occur.
So you see there is a lot to consider. The one important thing is we need to pray before we go "shopping" seeking God's guidance and accepting His will even if He says,"Stay put where you are."
I humbly ask for your prayers
