All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Depression & Anxiety, There is a Cure.

"Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick." (Luke 5:31)

Are you sick? More specifically, are you sick in your mind and emotions? Well, if you answered yes then I have good news for you! There is a cure! I want to make it clear that medicine is a gift from God when used correctly, and I am not bashing medication nor therapy but I must share my testimony that is only to glorify our Father in heaven, His Son Jesus Christ, and His Holy Spirit.

I have struggled with depression, and anxiety all of my life. I was diagnosed at a young age.  As I grew up, I still struggled with these things and sought comfort and peace in worldly objects. I went down a dark path, with no light to guide my feet into stability in my mind nor life. Then came Jesus, and let me tell you that I have not been the same since then.

I grew up in a church, but this is different. This is different in the sense that I may have grew up in the church, but I was still blinded. That is until I started seeking God with all my heart and soul. I was walking around in darkness with out any source of light in my life. I could not stay happy, I could not function in school nor could I function in the workplace after I got my GED which led to quite a few jobs I would quit or get fired from. I was so fed up with dealing with my depression, and anxiety that after trying all different kinds of religion along with self medicating to no avail, that Jesus saved me.

Now my response to my depression and anxiety is completely different. I do not stay in the cycles of depression that I used to before I was saved, which would last between a few days...weeks...or even months. I am not medicated, nor do I have a therapist other than Jesus, our Wonderful Savior and Mighty Counselor. He is the Cure,

"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:28-31)

God can deliver you, and continue to strengthen you through your pain as well as suffering. Mental illness is a serious issue, but nothing is impossible with God. When you feel like nothing you can do or turn to is working, turn to God as He loves you. "Cast all your anxiety on Him for He cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)

"For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.' (Isaiah 41:13)

Jesus says in Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."  We have a light, that can shine in our darkness or the darkness surrounding us. This light is Jesus; He is the way, the truth, and the life that can save us from anything we face that is greater than ourselves. "Through the tender mercy of our God, with which the Dayspring from on high has visited us; to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace." (Luke 1:78-79)

Put your trust in Him, and He will deliver you. Pray to God about everything, and He will give you peace in Christ. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

Depend on God, He is our rock. "In You, O LORD, I put my trust; let me never be put to shame. Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; incline Your ear to me, and save me. Be my strong refuge, to which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, for You are my Rock and my Fortress." (Psalm 71:1-3, God the Rock of Salvation)  These words are not just empty words, they are inspired by the Father, the Holy Spirit of God. Therefore, let us believe and meditate on them.

Build on the Rock: Luke 6:46-49, "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like; He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."

Without Jesus, without our God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we cannot withstand the trials and tribulations of this world. As long as we have the Creator of the heavens and the earth, we have life and we have it more abundantly no matter what we face. Then when you share whatever testimony Jesus has given you, others can see and believe in the One who sent His Son to die on the cross for the sins of the world, because God so loved the world He did this. Let us love one another as He has commanded us, and comfort each other. Uplift one another, pointing them to the Light of the world. I hope and pray that this helps somebody, anybody. God gives the increase, He gives the growth and understanding (1 Corinthians 3:7). All we have to do is believe in Him, and share Jesus with the world however He leads us to.  So however we can, lets boast in Him and not of ourselves. Lets worship and praise Him for He is good and worthy of all praise. Believe in Him, He loves you and wants to give you light in life. Jesus is the answer to it all. God bless you all.
