All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

So often in my own personal journey with God This question has popped up in conversations. Though I was delivered of "chronic depression" the day I received Jesus there are still times when there are slumps in that department. The difference is ,how we handle it now and what we do with it. We know now that we can either choose to stay there or keep our eyes looking up while God's strength ,mercy and comfort helps to carry us through it.

Yes, a Christian can get depressed and I pray these scriptures help someone today to realize they are not any less of a Christian when or if they do go through these slumps.

God DOES care when you feel depressed! Don't allow the enemy to tell you any different!

Psalm 139:1-12 even in darkness I cannot hide from you
There is no depth you can descend into where God is not with us. When depression comes, remember that even though we can' feel His presence,He has not left us.

Psalm 130:1-8 From the depths of despair,O Lord, I call for Your help...
Even in the darkest hours we can cry out to God. He WILL hear us.

Isaaiah 53:3 He was despised and rejected; a man of sorrows, acquainted with bitterest grief.
We know that through Christ God understands the pain of human life.

Romans 8:39 Nothing in all creation will ever separateus from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord
Not even the worst depression can separate us from the love of Christ.

DOES FEELING DEPRESSED MEAN SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR FAITH? NO,NO,NO!!!

Judges 15:18 Now Samson was very thirsty, and he cried out to the Lord,"You have accomplished this great victory...Must I now die of thirst?"
I ask you, could a man who falls asleep in a den full of lions possibly have a faith problem?

1 Kings 19:3-4 Elijah was afraid and fled for his life...He sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die...
Even for the people of God,depression can often follow great achievement or Spiritual victory.

Psalm 35:9 I will be glad because He rescued me.

Psalm 40:1-3 He lifted me out of the pit of despair...

Matthew 14:29-33 when he looked around at the high waves,he was terrified and began to sink. "Save me Lord!" He shouted. Instantly Jesus reached out His hand and grabbed him.
God is able to lift us out of the pit of depression and fear.

A PROMISE FROM GOD;
Matthew 11:28-30 Then Jesus said, "come to me,all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light. "

PRAISE THE LORD AND BE LIFTED UP!!! :)

Incidently, when and if I do get depressed it now only lasts for a day accept for this last spell that lasted for two weeks until I prayed with my Pastor today. The Lord will usually remind me how the enemy STOLE my happiness and my life for fifty years. That normally makes me angry enough at the little devil that I pull out of it. God IS very good at what He does! AMEN! :D

Because it is the only way they can deal with things they do not understand. They do not realize they are adding to your burden by making light of your feelings. Forgive them ,they know not what they do.

Your story is practically identical to my own. God sent many angels my way in the past three years to help me become restored. Five years later and 3 and a half years after receiving Christ into muy life, I now know that several things were wrong. Not only depression but co-dependancy,passive-aggressiveness,post traumatic stress disorder not to mention low self esteem and self hate. I most certainly agree in prayer with you Janet. In Jesus Name,Amen

He makes us new Janet but nowhere in His word does it say He made us inhuman. And God is so good that He has promised us that His mercy is new every morning. Praise God! :D

I have a close sister and friend who suffers and there is no doubt about her faith. We are human and have human emotions. No point in denying this. We are weak but HE IS STRONG! HALLEJUHYA!! THANKYOU FATHER! :D
