Good appraoch. Keep in mind that most, if not all, fruit bearing trees and vines only bear fruit in season and not 24/7/365, yet the plant is still alive and operating as it was designed even when there is no fruit on the tree or plant. Thus the tree.plant is either bearing fruit, recovering from bearing fruit or preparing to bear more fruit. Thus is the life of a Christian. Oh, and yes, the vinedresser also has the responsibility of pruning the vine for the good of the vine so that it may grow healthy and bear much fruit.

Who can judge the heart? I think it can be either or depending on the person. For the unregenerated we know that the dog returns to his vomit and for the saved divine discipline is forthcoming. One knows conviction that battles the selfishness of man, the other simply wants what he thinks is rightly his.

 

We will not walk in perfection in this life, but none-the-less we are to aspire to walk in perfection.
