All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

WHOSES LAWS DO YOU LIVE BY

When it comes to the word of God, there are none so blind as those who do not want to see and none so deaf as those who do not want to hear. They read the Scriptures and say they are just a series of stories put together and they do not see how they apply to them or sit in church on Sunday morning and do not hear a word that the preacher is saying that can benefit them.

The stories of the Bible may be old, but they have stood the test of time and have been a benefit to those who not only see the truths in them, but also hear what they have to say to them. Those who apply the truths of the Bible to their lives grow spiritually and are better equipped to find solutions to life’s problems than those who are blind to those same truths. Hearing the truth and ignoring what it is saying tantamount being deaf and living life our way and facing rejection by God on the Day of Judgment. These people are like ducks and let God’s word run off their backs like water instead of being like a sponge and absorb God’s word into their hearts, to be recalled when needed.

Through Moses God gave us ten simple laws to live life by known as the Ten Commandments, but for the most part we have ignored God’s Commandments and have filled books upon books full of manmade laws and we still cannot control the behavior of those whom these laws are intended to control. If we cannot obey God’s Commandments how do we expect people to live by manmade laws? God’s Commandments never change whereas we change our laws to fit different situations as they arise. This shows the arrogance of man, trying to control the behavior of others and not necessarily our own behavior.

Following the Ten Commandments frees us from the burden of manmade laws; the Ten Commandments supersede manmade laws, they cover every part of our behavior and how we should live. Those who live by the Ten Commandments enjoy life much more than those who struggle with manmade laws and what laws of man that they may or may not have broken. Just as the Hebrew people while in the desert turned from the Ten Commandments and worshiped idols so do we of today, we think these Commandments to be archaic and outdated for what we call modern living, when in fact God’s Ten Commandments are the only laws that anyone will ever need to control their behavior.

Listen closely to what the Bible has to say and you can hear the voices of the past saying, “Repent, listen to God’s word and apply it to your life. Seek God while there is still time, for you know not the day of your demise.” Take this advice and return to the Master’s flock where the ravaging wolves of this world cannot devour you and you lose your way and be lost forever in the sins of this world. Pray that God will give you insight to see beyond this existence and see the joy and peace that awaits those who live according to His word.

This life is a time of trials and tribulations, a time to grow in the sight of God or succumb to the temptations of Satan and become blind to the truths as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. Upon death, there are two doors through which all will pass; one is the door to eternal life and the other is the door to hell. Those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and live life according to the Ten Commandments will have no fear of death or where they will spend eternity. Whereas those who walked the road of life both blind and deaf to the word of God will be cast from God’s sight and suffer the anguish and torture of hell. Everyone can live life according to his or her desire and each one will be held responsible for his or her choice and be assigned his or her place in eternity accordingly.
