“We are not Cave Dwellers”

In today’s society of Christian believers, we find David’s original army, those in distress, in debt, and discontented still are alive and not so well, still in the discomfort of grumble mode. 1Sa 22:1 David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father's house heard it, they went down thither to him.
1Sa 22:2 And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
We act like we’ve been beaten by the enemy, when in fact, we only beat ourselves up. Even the enemy is amazed and how good a job we’re able to do and completely without his help.
David had a secret, but his secret cost him a small price, he had to take the time to learn of God, some through the Torah and the rest through communion with God. When I say communion, I’m not referring to the bread and grape juice or wine a congregation does, periodically. I’m talking about talking with the Lord, today we call it praying.
1Sa 30:6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
Through the Word, the Torah, David learned what and how the Lord His God saw him and thought of him and he used that to build himself up.
As children of the living God, the Father of lights, how can we be children of light, if we continue to dwell in our caves of darkness and depression. I’m about to say something that few people can appreciate, but none the less, it’s to close to His return to softsoap anything anymore. Saying things like, “but you don’t know what I’m going through” just doesn’t cut it in my book. I bear more scars of the learning process in the Lord than most preachers do today, and I’m grateful for everyone of them. One very important lesson I learned from God is, He is not the God of the ooey gooey love all the time. Sometimes He is a God of tough love and if that means taking you out to the woodshed and burning a little flesh with a hickory switch, then that’s what he’ll do.
He chastens those He loves, I don’t remember any chastening as a child being whipped cream and lollipops, so love can be painful at times.
So here goes, kindly pull up you big girl panties and grow up, face the music of the present dance no matter how much you dislike and and walk through it. Be like David, encourage yourself in the Lord your God, His Word is amazing and ALIVE. Get to know Him through His Word, then get to know who He knows you are through His Word.
In this, you will gain the leadership qualities that God has been trying to bring out of you, that He instilled in you in the womb.

These are hard words, but not from a hard heart, though I don’t know you, I love you!

God did that!
Now, come out of your cave, into His light, and shine, shine, shine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
