The Lamb is worthy to receive the honour

'Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to recieve power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honour and glory and praise!' - Revelation 5:12

This antiphony in honour of God is already commenced. Two thousand years ago, God revealed to John on the island of Patmos that the church and the angels, the animals of the field and the eagles of the heights, the trees and the heather would ultimately sing in praise, and that this song would be dedicated to Jesus, the Lamb.

John had seen that nothing on the earth happens to itself. God's plan is written in a text, in the handwriting of the Eternal. The chapters are sealed: the secrets, the judgements, the mercy and God's rescue plan are contained therein. In the whole of creation only the Lamb was willing to do the will of God; only the Lamb found fulfilment in perfect obedience. It is only because of this that God's plan can be revealed to humankind. Only the Lamb, the perfect Mediator, will be able to reveal God's will, plan of redemption and agenda to humankind.

Centuries ago the church - the twenty-four elders of Revelation 5:8 - began to sing and bring the praise due to Jesus Christ to Him in prayer. In worship through the ages, and particularly in the antiphony at the end of time, He who is known as Lion (the victor) and the Lamb (the One who laid down His life) will receive the praises of the church, the angels and all of creation. Only He is worthy of such praise and adoration.

I know You who are both Lion and Lamb, Lord Jesus! Amen
