RESTORING THE OLD DOORS

THE BRICK CHURCH

I go to a church where our brick building was built about 200 years ago. It is a beautiful building, but has been very costly to keep up. We have 2 double doors on the front of the church that had cracked paint, and were a mess from years of neglect and many layers of old paint.

It has taken hours to strip them down to the wood with this heating element to melt the old paint so it could be scraped off.
God's word says he is coming back for a bride without spot or wrinkle. The spot is removed by the blood of Jesus, the wrinkles are worked out by heat from the fire of the Holy Spirit working in our lives.

Just like those doors are going to be restored and beautiful once again, so are we as the Holy Spirit uses the tool of the Word of God to chip away all the old sinful things in our lives that keep us from being beautiful.

It is very uncomfortable when God does His work in our lives, but oh the wonder of becoming more and more into the image of that bride without spot or wrinkle.

Ephesians 5:27. "That He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless."

Ephesians 1:4, " just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him in love."

Like the old doors on a old brick church God can make us like new through the blood of Jesus and the work of the Holy Spirit, and by the Word of God.

Thank you for this Word. Yes, We have to accept the pain involved in order to be shaped and shine like a sharpened arrow of the Lord.
