All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

The tragedy of prosperity preaching is that it attempts to lead people to a wrong version of Christianity. Sure, you can get lots of people to "convert" by promising wealth, health and happiness in this life. Unfortunately many will prove to be false converts, and will backslide and fall away at the first sign of hardship- hardships that we are promised to encounter when we follow Jesus.

"Luke 8:13:Those (seeds) on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away. The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop."

What is the Good News and the message of the cross? That all men are sinners and are separated from a Just and Holy God, that on the cross Jesus took on our sin, and we took on His righteousness, reconciling us to the Father, if only we humble ourselves, repent, and proclaim Him Lord. Preach the Gospel of Christ, preach salvation, preach the Word!

Nobody said we have to be poor. The Lord may choose to bless us financially, or He may not. He may choose to give us perfect health, or not. It's His will, not ours. No amount of petitioning, or expecting, or demanding will change that.
The narrow gate of Christianity isn't easy. It won't make you popular, or cool, or rich. But it is the only way to an eternity in the presence of our awesome God.

So is preaching a message that will NOT save souls and may ultimately push the disillusioned further away from Him, in order to line men's own pockets heresy? What do you think?
