All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I have been having a lot of questions regarding praying in tongues.

1. Are we all who are saved and filled with the Holy Sirit supposed to be speaking in tongues?
2. Why are some tongues so similar?
3. If I am saved and filled with the Holy Spirit but do not speak in tongues, what does it mean?

Blessings!!!

Hi LT,

It is great to hear you. I may not have good knowledge in Bible, but I had try to ask Jesus many times to let me speak in tongue " graciously ". Somehow I could feel the Holy Spirit is working in me and my wife.
We enjoy worship, learning His words.
This is much better than just praying and speaking in tongues that sometimes non believers get kind of strange impression. I myself did not feel easy when seeing excessively prayers in tongue and the falls of " slain by Spirit "...
I believe God has His way to communicate with us ( Hebrew 1:1 ) and fruits of the spirits are most important to us as Christians.

Hey Mogomotsi,

There are two recent forums that addressed your question. They are at the following links:

I personally do not believe tongues is a requirement, but is one of the gifts that the Holy Spirit can endow people with. I believe the Bible reveals that a person does not have to speak in tongues to prove they are filled with the Holy Spirit or to be assured of their salvation. This has been and will continue to be a very "hot topic" in church circles.

Hope this helps.

Lord Bless,
LT

But the thing is people are making a big deal if one is not speaking in toungues, it seems as if one has not been baptised in the Holy Spirit. And reading the book of Acts, I don't think that everybody prayed in tongues. Thanks Felix

Blessings.

don't worry if you are not speaking in tongues yet. it's enough for now that you can speak, you can talk and you can pray in your own languages. God bless you.
