All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

You have eaten and are full you built a good house to dwell in. Your gold and silver is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied. Your heart is lifted up and you forget the Lord thy God, which brought you forth from the house of bondage. Deuteronomy 8:12-14

Simply put, when you believe your problems are deplorable rest assure there is someone far worst than yourself! All too often people focus on their situations, problems, or what they don’t have opposed to thanking God for what you have. My best friend told a story about a man and a pebble. The man put a stone in his pocket as a reminder of God’s Grace, Mercy, and bountiful blessings. So as he retrieved keys or loose coins he would always take a moment to thank God for something rather than complain about his problems.

Most individuals act no different than children; no sooner than they get the desires of their heart they are already looking and asking for another new wish let a lone pausing for a minute, to thank God for some of the obvious: waking you up, vigorous health, food in the refrigerator and a roof over your head. When the wants go unanswered most become frustrated about life and believe that God has forgotten them. They fail to remember the life lesson that was taught as children to be thankful and appreciative.

The 8th chapter of Deuteronomy is very clear, “do not forget the Lord”, also be mindful in following every command given. Observe the commands, give thanks and praise to the Lord. This is one ingredient that is missing in so many individual’s life. People don’t appear to have a problem in asking for what they want however they do come up with excuses as to why they forget or opt not to thank God: daily rush of getting ready, bogged down at work, traffic, tired or your social calendar does not permit time. With a schedule like this yes it is very strenuous for a person to ‘find’ time to give thanks to the Lord let alone stay sane.

If you are guilty of constantly complaining or feel that God is not answering your prayers, start giving more thanks and praise unto the Lord. Find a way to jog your memory in thanking God; how about while taking a shower, the idle time during traffic or consider having a gratitude of faith by putting a pebble in your pocket as a constant reminder to praise and thank God.
