All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I asked God, “When was I closest to You?” Two words came back, “MALL WALK.” Now, those two words probably mean absolutely nothing to you, so allow me to elaborate.

Some time ago, when I was living in Montgomery, Alabama, I started going to the Mall every morning for the “soul” purpose of developing a routine walk with God. The first lap around the mall, I would ONLY concentrate on receiving the refreshing of God’s Spirit, allowing Him to take control of my life and thoughts. During the second lap (I must mention that I cut a lot of corners) I thanked God for everything that came to mind, from my feet, to my family. The third lap around I would unburden myself (talk about my troubles) and ask for God’s blessing. I would also take time to pray for friends and family, especially those in my own household.

This is the real point: I took part of my precious time and decided to purposely share it with God. Believe me, God is ECSTATIC when we carve out time to be with Him. How do relationships grow anyway? Isn’t it by spending time with one another? On the other hand, how do relationships sour or die? Isn’t it by not spending time together? If you value any relationship, wouldn’t you make time for that special someone?

Of course, you don’t have to go to the mall. You could go to the park. You could even spend time with God in your car. You really don’t have to leave your home. Why not stay in your bed? How YOU do it doesn’t matter. JUST DO IT! (Oops…Sorry Nike!) Start spending time with your Best Friend. I guarantee you, your life will be so much better for it. Your Creator will also be very pleased and He will definitely come closer to you (remember the promise). So go ahead and get your mall walk on, wherever it may be.

I failed to mention that I walked in the Mall way before opening hours. It was less distracting because there were only a few people in there walking. All the stores were closed.

Hey Tammy and thanks for your comment. Spending time is paramount! :)

My issue with walking at the Mall is I'd get sidetracked one too many times at the shoe stores. I'd see that one outfit "Oops, hold on God. I'll be right back". I use to walk on the walking track & do the same thing & spend my time with God. Spending time with Him seems to take the back lane while everything else is in the lead. We should strive to develop that time.
