LEARNING THE BICYCLE (LETTING GO AND LETTING GOD)

I do not know who this poem I read a couple of weeks ago may be for who needs to read it. Its about letting go and knowing when to let go of something or someone and how in life we sometimes have to do this gracefully and just believe that God's hand will be on that person and that everything the Lord put us in that persons life for has been seeded and will take root for the Mighty Hand of God to continue watering.

There was a time a few years ago that I was in a Christian chat and someone was upset when I said that sometimes you just have to let them go. This person saw that as giving up on them but it is really about trusting God to water after being His instrument in their life.

I know at one time it could have been for me but ever since I read it , it is tugging very hard at me to post it. Maybe it is for myself again, God will lead me on that if it is but I sense someone else out there needs this right now because of this powerful tug to post it on here. I pray it lands where it blesses someone.

LEARNING THE BICYCLE

THE OLDER CHILDREN PEDAL PAST

STABLE AS LITTLE GYROS, SPINNING HARD

TO SUPPER, BATH, AND BED, UNTIL AT LAST

WE ALSO QUIT, SILENT AND TIRED

BESIDE THE DARKENING YARD WHERE TREES

NOW SHADOW UP INSTEAD OF DOWN.

THEIR PREDICTABLE LENGTHS CAN ONLY TEASE

HER AS, HEAD LOWERED,SHE WALKS HER BIKE ALONE

SOMEWHERE BETWEEN HER WANTING TO RIDE

AND HER CERTAINTY SHE WILL ALWAYS FALL.

TOMORROW, THOUGH I WILL RUN BEHIND,

ARMS OUT TO CATCH HER, SHE'LL TILT THEN BALANCE WIDE

SMALLER, BEYOND THE PLACE I STOP AND KNOW

THAT TO TEACH HER I HAD TO FOLLOW

AND WHEN SHE LEARNED I HAD TO LET HER GO.
