All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

When was the last time you had a real good laugh? Was it because some one told you a good joke? Was it because of a comedy movie, or was it a comedian you saw on television? Was it something your three year old kid did?
It has been proven by doctors and psychologists that a good dose of laughter a day helps you stay healthy. Somehow laughter helps you release some of the tension of a stressful day, and it also keeps you in a positive attitude.
It’s 2:17am, and I’m laughing at the fact that I’m writing about laughter at this time of the day. I for one love to laugh; I love comedy movies, shows, comedy sketches, books, etc. One of my favorite television programs has to be The Three Stooges, even though I’ve seen every episode hundreds of times I still laugh at them. As I sit here writing this, a lot of thoughts go through my mind about this subject. Think about this for a moment: people get paid a lot of money to make people laugh, and people pay a lot of money to have someone make them laugh. Now, let me ask you this: is this subject important to you? It has to be, it’s the difference between a bright day and a dark one. Did you know that you’re in charge of assigning emotions to whatever circumstances you’re going through?
If I was to tell you that you will live longer by laughing more… would you laugh more? Stop taking everything so serious and have big laughs more often. I’m not suggesting you become a laughing hyena and laugh at anything and everything. I’m simply suggesting a little more laughter.
I know two people (my dad and my uncle to be exact) when they sit in front of a television to watch The Bugs Bunny and Road Runner show (cartoons) you’ll know what laughter is all about. If you are not aware of their laughter (loud, but contagious) you’re in for a surprise. I grew up in this family and still sometimes if I’m not aware they scare the living daylights out of me, and yes before you know it you’re laughing with them.
If it sounds like I’m repeating myself when I say this, is because I want you to get the point. Stop being so serious about everything, even the Bible says “there is time to laugh” why not? I dare you to put more laughs and less anger in your marriage, family, friendships, church, workplace, social clubs, etc.

“A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones”
Proverbs 17:22
