The Move of God

God moves in dispensations by the Holy Spirit using men. In the Old Testament, God’s dealing was with men on personal basis till Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God began to deal with a larger community scale through Moses. He raised kings and prophets to deliver His message. Hebrew 1:1-2. God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.

The commandment received by one man who chose to follow God is the foundation of the freedom to humanity world over see Magna Carta. The constitutions of the nations are based on it. The best human system of governance (democracy) has its root in the Law of Moses. John 1:17. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ…Isaiah 9:6. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

When God moves, He has His glory in mind; He has the welfare of humanity at heart. He wants to make the earth like heaven, so that both His kingdom and will are established upon the earth.

God’s move through His Spirit using the Judges in Israel was to change their heart towards God and to deliver them from the hands of their oppressors. Among the judges used were: Ehud, Deborah, Gideon and Samson.

God’s move by His Spirit using the prophets and priests was to sustain the law and righteousness in Israel and to proclaim the next move through John the Baptist and the Christ. It was further to open the path for the Gentiles to come into the adoption as sons of God which was pre ordained.

Isaiah 40:1-5. Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for,
that she has received from the LORD’s hand double for all her sins.
3 A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD; make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.
5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together.
For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.”

Luke 3:1-6. In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar—when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene— 2during the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness. 3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.5 Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. 6 And all people will see God’s salvation.

God also moves in the fulfillment of prophecies or in the keeping of His covenant.

The prophet Isaiah foretold the emergence of a Baptizer who will prepare the way for the Lord through who the people will see the glory of God. It took hundreds of years for this prophesies to be fulfilled. God moved through John by the Holy Spirit turning the heart of the fathers to their children and children to the fathers. God moved through John by the Spirit to prepare the way for Jesus. This is one of the greatest moves of God in human history. From that time the move of God took a new turn. Jesus appears to announce the emerging kingdom of God as dreamed by king Nebuchadnezzar and interpreted by Daniel. Daniel chapter 2. Jesus during His walk on earth began to prepare vessels for the next move of the Spirit. He gathered common people and sinners like fishers and tax collectors; filled them with water of His word and His Spirit and sent them to preach the kingdom.

The move of God sparked off again in Jerusalem and spread across the world. They challenged kings and kingdoms, dealt with principalities and powers. The turned the world upside down. Act 17:6. But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.

It was progressive and sustainable; from Jerusalem to Samaria and to the Antioch. Through Paul the Spirit moved down to Europe where it faced challenges that watered it down. The move didn’t die, but was on the wings of the Spirit waiting for God to choose men again.

Whenever there was no one to be used, God stopped till He found men who are willing to live selflessly. Ezekiel 22:30. So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

The Roman Catholic Church era is described as the dark ages of Christianity because there were no men to be used by the Holy Spirit. The devil took over the affairs of the world religion and government and humanity suffered until the reformers began to emerge as a light from the same darkness with a message of FAITH IN GOD.

The early church touched the world by the power of the Word and the Holy Spirit. The Church was born at a very trial time in the history of the word. It overcame the Jewish leadership and their traditions, to face the Roman Empire. Till the 11 Century, the church was in its original state, growing spiritually as the Holy Spirit gave revelations that formed the principles of the Christian faith and ethics. Since it was obvious that the Church was the greatest force that challenged the Roman Empire, the Roman government hijacked the church through strong manipulations and changed the Christian faith and ethics to fit into their idolatrous system.. However, God began to raise from among the system men like John Wycliffe 1328 – 31 December 1384 and Jan Hus Husinec, Bohemia (today Czech Republic) 1369– 6 July 1415 to reform the church to its original glory.
