All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

I am new to this and was invited to join by a chuch member.. I will be 56 in a couple of weeks and have been recently divorced after 34 years of marriage.. My exwife has remarried just before Thanksgiving and I get along very well with her and new husband Ray.. I have been very active in the church till this past year , as the divorce has caused me great financial problems and I have had health problems with my back , which thank the Lord has been brought under control.. I am just now getting back on my feet somewhat and have started getting back into the church and doing the Lord's work in earnest again.. If it hadn't Been for the Lord's help I don't think that I would have been able to have gotten through this past year as well as I have. I thank him every day for the insights and answered prayers that he has bestowed upon me..
Even with my health problems and financial worries , I was able to help two familys with a place to stay , and help getting off drugs.. I unfortunatly over extended myself and managed to lose my house , which without help I would have lost anyway, but the Lord has provided me with a place to stay with my youngest son and his family.. I have sold or given away all of my possesions and I feel better than at any other time in my life.. I am looking forward to getting back on my feet and helping others that are in need , as I think that is what the Lord would have any of us to do..
I am lonely and get depressed at times , but I feel that the Lord will provide me with a companion again in the near future.. I know to pray and leave it all up to him and not to feel discouraged as he does all things in his own time frame.. I just ask that anyone going through hard times , stop and pray to the Lord and give him time to work and all things will work out ..

Dear Charles,
Thank you for your comments.. How are things going for you now? I intend to take things slowly and take my time before I commit to a new relationship.. I have started attending all the services at the church again.. At the last church I attended three years ago I was on the board of trustees and property manager , in the choir, and taught sunday school every other month.. I have been attending Macedonia Baptist Church for three years now , but have not been attending regularly.. My wife and I had problems for many years and she had been married before. She had left me 6 years ago and I put a stop to it as she was trying to see a married man and he was a drinker.. We just never could get it to work.. When we were first married I was abusive to her , physically and verbally.. I have had anger management and counseling , but nothing worked better than getting involved with the Lord. When she left me this last time I was in the mood to let her go as I knew that the Lord would see me through.. She was seeing her new husband at the time and I immediately the Sat. after she moved out made a dinner date with them and made an attempt to get to know him.. I took them to dinner in another town 30 miles away and we took my truck.. They got a sermon on the way there and believe it or not he is a christian , just back sliding at the time. We had a good time and got to know one another and we have been friends since.. In fact they lived with me for two months trying to help me keep the house.. YOU KNOW THE LORD HAD TO BE IN THAT SITUATION.. I have gone to church with them and they with me. He and I go fishing together too.. One other plus for doing all of this was keeping peace in the family as he is black and my youngest son was very against that.. By my accepting the situation and making friends my son is gettting along with them now too.. We have grandchildren and he was threatining to keep them away from his mother.. LOVE AND FORGIVENESS cures all ills..
I was occupied helping a single mother and her three children get back on their feet this summer and that helped.. My wife and I took them in and she had a husband at that time last Thanksgiving.. He left her in Feb. and she finally got on her feet and moved out in Sept.. I miss them and don't get to see them much now and that causes my lonliness.. But I am back in the church and taking my granddaughters with me so that will help.. I will just take it one day at a time.
Thanks for the encouragement and feel free to write any time.. Maybe later I will tell you about our son that was killed and how we came to forgive the boy that did it.. BOY WAS THE LORD IN THAT!!!!

God bless you
larry
