AN EFFECTIVE WAY TO GET A PRAYER THROUGH TO GOD!

"I am Thine. Thy enemies wish to destroy me! Lord, look to Thy servant; Thy servant looks to Thee. O how sovereign is such a word against all the evils of life! I am Thine! therefore save Thine Own!" - Adam Clarke
"Consecration is a good plea for preservation. If we are conscious that we are the Lord's, we may be confident that He will save us." - Charles Spurgeon

"I am Thy servant" - What an effective plea for favor, help, and deliverance from God.

Can you say that today?

Can you - with all confidence - go before the "Throne of grace" and petition the Lord using this argument - "I am Thy servant"?

Who are the true "servants of God"?

Genesis 26:24 mentions Abraham as - "My servant." Genesis 32:10 refers to Jacob as - "Thy servant." Exodus 4:10 says of Moses - "Spoken unto Thy servant." 1 Kings 3:7 says of Solomon - "Made Thy servant King." In 1 Kings 18:36, Elijah claims before God - "I am Thy servant." In Psalm 69:17, David prays - "hide not Thy face from Thy servant."

"I am Thy servant."

What makes a person a true "servant of God"?

Romans 6:22 explains - "But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life." A True Servant of God is one who has been freed from the dominion and bondage of sin and whose life is producing the "fruit" of holiness or holy living. He has been freed from the slavery of sin and become the willing slave to God. Resultantly, he now feels entitled to Divine Regard and owns a claim to God's salvation, deliverance, or protection from all harm, disease, or danger.

Look how David used this "claim" as an effective plea before the Almighty -

Psalm 86:16 says - "O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me; give Thy strength unto Thy servant, and save the son of Thine handmaid."
Psalm 116:16 says - "O LORD, truly I am Thy servant, I am Thy servant, and the son of Thine handmaid: Thou hast loosed my bonds."
Psalm 119:94 says - "I am Thine, save me; for I have sought Thy precepts."
Psalm 119:125 says - "I am Thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know Thy testimonies."
Psalm 143:12 says - "And of Thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am Thy servant."

David knew that God would interpose on behalf of His own. Hence, he cried out to the Lord to show favor...be merciful...and enable him to act as if he was clothed with divine power. The ground for his plea was that he was a "servant of God." Resultantly, God answered and put strength into his soul - so much so that he no longer feared his adversaries nor was moved by his emergencies.

Because David was His servant, God gave him the evidence that he was so by regarding his petition to preserve him alive. Because he served the Lord God Almighty cheerfully and willingly ... in righteousness and true holiness ... and with a zealous attachment to Him, God delivered him from the bonds of affliction - the fetters which seemed to make him a prisoner of Death. He was no longer in captivity to disease and pain.

Because David was not his own, nor the world's, but God's alone, he had the rock-solid confidence to claim His salvation from all troubles and afflictions - both temporal and spiritual. His enemies wished to destroy him. However, they failed because he was devoted to God and owned by Him. In the face of all his trials, temptations, dangers, and persecutions, he proclaimed - "I am Your servant, O Lord."

Because he was God's servant, he felt confident to petition the Lord for "understanding" - the instruction in the knowledge of His will. He had a great desire to obey His Master. He needed to know what He required of him. He needed "understanding" to render perfect obedience to Him. He knew that He was God's servant and had a specific work to do for Him. Therefore, he pleaded his relationship as His beloved "servant."

Because he was God's "servant," David was confident that He would take care of his enemies. He knew that He could petition the Lord for His protection and help as he sought to serve Him.

O Saint of God, do you need God's intervention in the midst of troubles, trials, afflictions, and dangers? Do you need strength for the day of battle? Or do you need "understanding" in knowing how to give God perfect obedience in your service for Him?

Plead using your claim as "the servant of God."

Say before the Lord - "O LORD, truly I am Thy servant, I am Thy servant" because of the Redeeming Blood.

Remember the words of Spurgeon - "Consecration is a good plea for preservation. If we are conscious that we are the Lord's, we may be confident that He will save us."

Consecrate yourself as "the servant of God" and see what it will do for your prayer life.

Let the words of Adam Clarke encourage you today - "I am Thine. Thy enemies wish to destroy me! Lord, look to Thy servant; Thy servant looks to Thee. O how sovereign is such a word against all the evils of life! I am Thine! therefore save Thine Own!"

"I am Thy servant!"

There is AWESOME POWER in these words!

You'll find that to be true when you pray!

May God Bless His Word,
Connie
