All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

"Then the Lord God called to the man, 'Where are you?' "

—Genesis 3:9

God wants to meet with you and me on a regular basis. Think of it, like having and keeping an appointment with God!

I wonder just how many times each day that God wants to speak to us and He can't get a word in edgewise? The Lord might say, "I have wanted to talk to you for a long time, but you are too busy. This morning I wanted to talk to you, but you didn't have any time for me. You read the newspapers and watched TV and talked on the phone. You never opened the Word. You never prayed. At lunch I tried to say something, but your prayer was so fast. Later I tried to talk with you. You have been so busy. You have an appointment with Me. Why don't you keep it?"

Remember how Adam had an appointment with God every day in the Garden of Eden? He would hear the voice of the Lord in the garden in the cool of the evening. One day Adam missed that appointment because of sin. God said to Adam, "Where are you?"

I wonder if the Lord would say that to some of us each day: "Where are you? Where were you? I have been looking for you. I wanted to speak to you. I want you to walk with Me, and I want to walk with you."

Just imagine, the Creator of the Universe wants to spend time with you. Is there any appointment that is worth keeping more than this one?

hahaha Nothing to forgive. I've been told I should have done stand up. That was back in my more humorous quick-wit sarcastic days. Now, I can't think past going to the bathroom to make a joke.

I'm having that same discussion on another site. It's not really saying you have to have an appointment. I told my daughter about this discussion & asked her what she thought about it. Now, she is not very learned in the things of Christ. She said "He wasn't saying He wanted an appointment but He would just like you to make some time for Him". I thought that was very wise of her.

Here is my reply on the other site:

He never said you HAD to have an appointment. He said Think of it, like having and keeping an appointment with God! He stated that God's wants to meet with you but the world is so loud, you shut Him out. Never does it say He isn't omnipresent, sovereign, all-powerful, omniscient, almighty, holy or not there when you call on Him. It says He's always there waiting on you to shut out the world so that He can have a conversation with you. Some speak their short blessings over their food or wake up thanking Him for waking them up but then run off so quickly, He doesn't get a word in edge-wise. He isn't saying that one has to literally make an appointment with Him. We all know that isn't true. He met with Adam in the cool of the day - same time everyday. So, the day Adam didn't show up, He asked him Where are you? Why didn't you meet Me when we always do? Many have a prayer time they set aside to spend personal time with the Lord in their prayer closet. This is usually the same time everyday. This doesn't mean that we're not to pray continuously throughout the day but there is that special time some spend with Him just like Adam did in the cool of the day. It's not an 'appointment' because God isn't on a schedule. He's outside of time. It should be one of our deepest desires to draw nearer to Him as He grows us in His abiding in us.
