All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

This message is prophetic. It applies to all those who has been going through a time of great barrenness in their spiritual walk with the Lord or in their ministry.

For the longest time, you may have felt the chastening hand of the Lord - stripping away at your life - so to speak - causing great self-judgment and examination. At times, things - that have happened - did not make any sense whatsoever. You have cried out unceasingly for answers from the Lord.

It seems as though - all those around you have enjoyed one blessing after another - while you were simply left out. The Good News is that God has not forsaken you. A time of great enlargement and fruitfulness is coming your way. You can count on it. God is faithful to His promises.

Matthew Henry - the renowned Bible Commentator - once said - "God is to be acknowledged in all our enlargements. It is He that enlarges the coast and the heart."

W.E. Vine, in his book entitled - Isaiah - Prophecies * Promises * Warnings, added these comments - "Such are the Lord's ways. Enlargement follows curtailment when His chastening hand has done its work. When the disciplined soul learns to realize more fully what was accomplished at Calvary and bows in self-judgment before Him, spiritual enlargement is sure to result. Fruitfulness, which has suffered through improvement of soul, bursts forth in abundance, for the glory of the Lord and for the enrichment and blessing of others."

There is no doubt about it - enlargement comes from the Lord.

In Genesis 9:27, we read of Japheth - "God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant."

Japheth was the father of one branch of the Gentile world. His descendants - being exceedingly prosperous and powerful. - were active and enterprising - scattering far and wide over all of Europe and a considerable portion of Asia. This promise from God denoted outward prosperity as well as a victorious and abundant seed of descendants. They would be the masters - the "head" - of the tents of Shem. They would be endued with expansive powers from on high. Theirs would be the "double portion" blessing.

In 1 Chronicles 4:10, we read a prayer of Jabez - a man who was setting out in the world. He needed God's blessing on his life in order to reverse the stigma of his name - which meant - "one who causes pain." From the depths of his being, he cried out to the "God of Israel" - "...Oh that Thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that Thine hand might be with me, and that Thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me..." God heard and answered his petition by prospering his endeavors with a mighty increase - enlarging his heart and his portion in God and enabling him to make a mighty mark for the God of Israel - bringing blessing unto others instead of pain and sorrow.

In Isaiah 26:15, we move from the promise of enlargement for an individual unto a nation of people. We hear the Prophet Isaiah heralding of Israel - "Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, Thou hast increased the nation: Thou art glorified; Thou hast removed it far unto all the ends of the earth."

Once again, we witness God as the initiator of this great work. The nation is enlarged and the borders and boundaries are extended "far unto all the ends of the earth" in order to "make room" for the growth. Here we see a remarkable increase among His people - resulting in the overthrow of their surrounding enemies. And the Lord is indeed "glorified" through it all.

In Isaiah 54:1-3, we hear the Prophet proclaiming to the people of God - "Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited."

Here is an exhortation to all who have experienced "barrenness" of some sort - to make room for an abundance of blessings. What they lacked - they would lack no more. Fruitfulness, enlargement, and increase is promised to those who - for the longest time - went without.

O Saint of God! You who have travailed for a breakthrough - with seemingly no results - God has heard your cries and He is turning the tide on your circumstances.

Hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to you this day -

"break forth into singing"
"cry aloud"
"enlarge the place of thy tent"
"stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations"
"spare not"
"lengthen thy cords"
"break forth on the right hand and on the left"

In other words, take the limits off of God.
Change your way of thinking - your perspective on things.
You may have lacked in certain areas in the past - but things are going to change.
Your days of barrenness are over.
In the very area in which you have struggled, God is bringing your increase.

Just as Israel had to make room for the increase of her children by "enlarging her tent," even so must you make preparation for God's increase to come your way.

Your past days of curtailment, discipline, and chastisement were not in vain. God was stripping you down - only to prepare you for His increase. Praise His Holy Name!

There is one thing that you must never forget. In Deuteronomy 19:8-9, Moses told the children of Israel - "And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as He hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which He promised to give unto thy fathers; If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in His ways..."

God promised Israel that He would "enlarge their coast" but there was one condition to that promise - they had to walk in obedience to His commands. Otherwise, they would forfeit the promise. Expansion of their territory beyond their initial borders was promised as long as they loved God enough to walk in His ways and keep His commandments.

Never forget - "Such are the Lord's ways. Enlargement follows curtailment when His chastening hand has done its work..."

Get ready to break forth on the right hand and on the left with increase.
Your area of lack is turning around - even now - to become the area of abundance - where God will be greatly glorified.
His power - on your behalf - will be made known to all.

May God Bless His Word,
Connie
