bible as a manual in dealing with the devil

Yesterday was Sunday and I thought: "I don't really need to go to church . . . I'll just 'keep the Sabboth' at home." Then I remembered that so many places in the New Testament talk about us Christians as being the church, and the church-this-and-that. I think that whenever I have a thought that seems not quite to be in accord with my Christ-mind, maybe I should consider if that thought was influenced by the 'powers in the air'. So, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I went to church afterall. Then, later in the day, I thought: "Without my daughter and grandson, I have nothing to live for." Then I remebered that the bible says that Jesus came to give life, so that we have life abundantly. This too was a thought that I needed to 'take captive' and as a remedy to this thought, I began singing praise words and SOON no longer had the feeling that life was verging on futile. Praise God for giving me His Word so that I have a course on how to live victoriously.
