All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

Am I wrong in not feeling comfortable about praying for adversities that I bring into my own life?
I feel wrong about praying for things that "I knew better" and yet still chose to...
I also feel wrong about not praying about these things because it might just be pride.
Am I thinking "I broke it,therefore I must deal with it on my own?" as if I could!

see....It's one thing to say to God "Father, I was minding my own business doing what you command when..." but it's quite another to go up to Him and say "well, Dad, I wasn't minding my business, as a matter of fact, I was breaking your commands when...so would you please get me out of it"

In a very real way no one merits the favor of God in another very real sense, He rewards faithfulness...

I think it might just be a question of pride.... dumb pride....Oy Vey

I think in 1 John chapter one it talks about this very issue. It says we should not conceal our sin, but admit that it was wrong and when we do, something wonderful happens; the blood of Jesus cleanses us, and He is faithful and just to forgive us.
So my take on this issue is to lay it out before the Lord, no matter if it was a mistake or out right doing my own thing. By doing this we are as it were continually being cleansed. But do not allow the enemy to throw condemnation at you after you have made it right with God. One other thing, you are right that there are consequences for our actions and depending on what we have done will determine the consequence. I hate that part of it all, but without consequences we will never learn to live Holy lives. One of my sons was arrested for underage drinking and he had all kind of consequences, from going through diversion, having to pay fines, etc. He was so miserable every time he had to go meet with them or pay for their services. He had real consequences and so do we.
