All About GOD - Growing Relationships with Jesus and Others

23Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men
Colossians 3:23

Me to You.

Today I cleaned my office and re- arranged things. I am a clean nut so this happens often. As I was cleaning I found a poem that was shoved under the desk. The paper was crumpled up and as I could see it had been there for a long time, but after unfolding it I found a beautiful poem. I was in awe. God defiantly puts things in our paths to find when He feels that we need to hear them.

This is what it said, “God has created me to do some definite service; He has committed some work for me which he has not committed to another. I have a mission… Therefore I will trust him. Whatever, wherever I am, I can never be thrown away. If I am in sickness, my sickness may serve him. In perplexity, my perplexity may serve him; If I am in sorrow, my sorrow may serve him. My sickness, perplexity or sorrow may be necessary cause of some great end, which is quite beyond us. He does nothing in vain.”

Man that really hit home! How many times have I walk around feeling sorry for my self because of something I am going through. God has put me in certain circumstances in my life for a reason. One always comes to mind.

My father, Richard, has had to deal with many deep things. He has been through things unimaginable, but has never walked around feeling sorry for himself. He always keeps a smile on his face, and when asked, “How are you today,” he always replies, “just fine and you?” I think that if I was going through what he has, I would have lost it. I was the “on looker,” it wasn’t actually happening to me. He is so tough and strong that he pulled himself and us through these trials, my mom, Terri, and I by his side all the way.

As I look at this I think to myself, God didn’t make trash in my father. He created my father to show people that they can make it through tough times too. He has committed each of us to do His work. I no that there has been times where I have felt like “trash.” Asking, “Why did God make me, or why did He sign me up for this job?” Instead I should have looked at this and said, “In everything that I am going through I should praise Him.” God has a plan for each one of us. Sometimes it’s super hard to see, and it even takes awhile to see it, maybe even after the trial is over and done. I just remember back that if my father can go through the things that he has been through, I can take on the world. See, we are lucky; we have the “Big Guy” standing next to us and in us! We don’t need to worry or be afraid, we just need to pray! God is going to carry us through all things. I sometimes ask, “God what else?” but have learned not to ask that anymore because he will defiantly show me! Just trust that God has your best interests and He is not going to give you more then what your can do. If you feel that you’re at your end, get on your knees and PRAY!!!

Today’s Prayer
Jesus, thank you for doing great works in my life. Thank you for committing me to your serves. Please help us that this week that we will trust that we are not trash and that you have a plan for us. That you didn’t make a mistake in us and that we are part of your big plan. Thank you for making me who I am—even if I feel like trash. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Questions for Thought

When have you ever felt like trash?
When have you seen God caring you through a problem?
Have you ever asked God, “what else?” and he has shown you?
Do you remember a time were you just needed to trust in him?
Have you ever just gotten on you knees and prayed?
