REFLECTION FROM HEBREWS

In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was already with God in the beginning.

3 Everything came into existence through him. Not one thing that exists was made without him.

4 He was the source of life, and that life was the light for humanity.

5 The light shines in the dark, and the dark has never extinguished it
John 1:1-5 (GW)

REFLECTIONS FROM HEBREWS 1: Christ’s Superiority Over Angels
God spoke to the prophets in the Old Testament. In the New Testament God spoke through His Son. After the ascension God spoke to His people through the Holy Spirit.
Hebrew writer confirms that God created everything through His Son Christ Jesus.
As a son reflects his earthly father so Christ reflects His heavenly Father, God.
After Christ paid the ransom for our sins with His blood. God placed Christ, His Son on His right side on the Heavenly throne.
God confirms Christ is superior to the angels in name, in character and in nature. Christ is to be worshipped by the angels who are there to serve Him.
Christ is eternal, He is divine, holy and just. He rules with righteousness, with holiness, with truth and love.
The angels who serve Him are also sent to watch over those who have been redeemed by the blood of Christ.

REFLECTIONS ON HEBREWS 2: Everthing Under Christ’s Control.

The writer encourages us to pay close attention to God’s Word and we won’t drift away from God. The message that was delivered to us from God by His messengers is true and reliable. Those who choose to reject it will face punishment for their acts of disobedience. Christ has confirmed God message by miracles and other signs and wonders.
For God to for mortal man is in itself amazing. To send His only begotten Son, making Him lower than the angels is amazing beyond imagination. He crowned His Son with glory and honour because He suffered and died for our sins though Christ did not gain control completely of all until He suffered, died and arose again and ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of God.
Christ is not ashamed of us who have been saved as we have the same Heavenly Father. In fact Christ calls us His brothers and sisters.
Since Christ came into this world as flesh and blood in order to suffer and die for us, to defeat His and our greatest enemy, Satan whose power was destroyed through Christ’s death and resurrection.
Christ. Through His earthly appearance suffered, faced temptations, so He would have empathy with us and help us as we face similar experiences.
Christ became our high priest interceding before God on our behalf. He became like us so He could demonstrate God’s mercy, so we could experience that same mercy as we yielded ourselves to Him.

REFLECTIONS ON HEBREWS 3: Christ’s Superiority Over Moses

We are not just family but partners in our service to Christ Jesus which is our divine and holy calling see ( 18 When Jesus came near, he spoke to them. He said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 So wherever you go, make disciples of all nations: Baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach them to do everything I have commanded you."And remember that I am always with you until the end of time."
Matt 28:18-20 (GW)).
Israel was called out of Egypt to serve God. We are called out from a life of sin into life with Christ. As the tribe of Levi was called to serve God as His priests so are we called to serve Christ. Christ who is the chief Apostle and our high priest to whom we have given our allegiance. The high priest was the only one who could enter the holy of holies once a year to make sacrifice for the sins of the nation. Christ not only is our high priest but He became the supreme sacrifice for the World, for everyone from every nation. see ( My dear children, I'm writing this to you so that you will not sin. Yet, if anyone does sin, we have Jesus Christ, who has God's full approval. He speaks on our behalf when we come into the presence of the Father. 2 He is the payment for our sins, and not only for our sins, but also for the sins of the whole world.1 John 2:1-2 (GW))
Moses was obedient to God, Christ more so. Moses served in God’s House. He served God as a leader and prophet to his people.
Moses was great, Christ is greater for Christ is the builder of His nation, His church. The builder always is considered greater for it is
builder who designs and builds the houses. he was employed, under God, to arrange and order it: he was steward to the Builder and Owner.—Adam Clarke's Commentary It is Christ who designed and built His church. Moses’ responsibility was to tell the people what God told him to say, to predict the future.
our Father, Governor, and Head. Whose house are we—We Christians are his Church and family; he is our Father, Governor, and Head.
—Adam Clarke's Commentary
There were those in the wilderness who tested God, who challenged Him by disobeying Him. They lusted after the World instead hungering after God. Those lost the opportunity to enter the Promised land. Many challenge, test God today. Unless they repent and unconditionally surrender to God, then they will not enter into glorious eternity with Christ
