Matt. 28:1-6

In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come; see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.

Beyond the manger,

 He grew from a child into a man;

Working as a carpenter; building things with His hands.

It seems I can see Him there, by Joseph’s side;

Carving out the wood, with love and pride.

Beyond the manger,

 Miracles would bring Him much fame.

Casting out devils; all the demons would know His name.

He would bless the little children who sat upon His lap.

Seldom did He stop, just to take a nap.

Beyond the manger,

 in Gethsemane He would cry;

In that lonely garden; tears flowing from His eyes,

He would pray, “Father, “Let this cup pass from me.”

Yet He was willing to give His life on a hill called Calvary.

Beyond the manger;

on a cross He would die,

And every plan of His Father, He would satisfy.

His Father would look away; His friends would all flee;

in agony He would pay sin’s debt, for you and me.

Beyond the manger,

They would place Him in a tomb.

the demons would be laughing while Mary’s head bowed in gloom.

Oh, but just three days later death would lose its sting;

Demons would hide in fear while the angels began to sing.

Beyond the manger,

the women would kneel at the tomb, wiping at their tears;

then the angel would say, “ Why do you weep, your Master is not here.”

“He has risen; go tell the others, I’ll see them in Galilee.”

“Jesus has conquered Death, Hell, and the Grave for the entire world to see.”
