UK evangelicals called to unity and acceptance of diversity

British Baptist leader the Rev David Coffey, who is now President of the Baptist World Alliance, is calling on evangelical Christians in the UK to be more accepting of the diversity among them.

Discrimination and the churches

According to the Catholic bishops of England and Wales, in giving evidence to parliament on the Equality Bill 2008-9 (see: http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/node/9558), "unjust discrimination is fundamentally wrong." But does this terminology not imply there might be another category of "just discrimination" which is slightly less awful, or even in some circumstances righteous?

Cardinal joins calls for Trident replacement to be scrapped

One of the UK's most senior Roman Catholics has joined the growing calls for the replacement of Trident to be abandoned.

Cardinal Keith O'Brien, the leader of Scotland's Catholics, criticised plans to renew Britain's nuclear deterrent, calling the retention of Trident "immoral".

Clergy back California civil rights ad campaign

California’s leading gay rights organisation is launching an advertising campaign to promote acceptance of gay marriage and is also helping to form a coalition of 1,000 clergy to help in changing negative religious attitudes towards same-sex unions.
