Pride and Boasting

The truth of the gospel is offensive to our pride. Pride suggests that enough goodness can substitute for belief in the Son of God.  FAITH requires a humble admission that we are helpless to redeem ourselves. We are justified by FAITH apart from works of the Law. - Rom. 3:27,28

Meet them at the door, and don't let them in!

Good Morning~

So, we’ve been talking about sin . . . about the struggle that is part of the human condition . . .

about Paul’s admission that ‘while he knows the good he ought to do,

this is the thing he does not do’!

Here’s the question—from whence does temptation come?

   Does God tempt us?

If not … where does the temptation come from??

Hmmmm … consider this from James:

“No one, when tempted, should say, "I am…

God Will.... Bring you Thru.

As someone who has gone thru many struggles in life, oftentimes longing for the end of a certain situation that I was experiencing at the moment, I can say of a surety that "God... will bring you thru. "

It may not be the way you want, or expect, but, when we come to him, we have to learn how to trust him, even when there appears no way out of our situation. He is working in the background, and of that, we can be sure.

He loves us with a love that… Continue

"Consequently, King Agrippa, I did not prove disobedient to the heavenly vision." —Acts 26:19

What I have come to believe concerning the Lord's glory and its manifestation in the church is supported by many Scriptures. Yet, it was through a night vision in 1971 that God granted me insight into His plan. In this spiritual encounter, I saw a great metropolis languishing under the weight of a deep and terrible darkness.… Continue

"American Dream" Lyrics

“American Dream”  -Casting Crowns

All work no play may have made Jack a dull boy

But all work no God has left Jack with a lost soul

But he's moving on full steam

He's chasing the American dream

And he's gonna give his family finer things

“Not this time son I've no time to waste

Maybe tomorrow we'll have time to play”

And then he slips into his new BMW

And drives farther and farther and farther away

Cause he works…

argumentively

I wonder if somehow God looks @ me in much the same fashion as I do with my own children...I have never been one to confront, argue or debate for any length of time..  It is a waste of my energy..  I have one  uh-maz-ing child who just makes my head tilt...being a parent I have to wonder, Is this how I frustrate my Father in Heaven???   Perhaps not with my words as my child does but with my actions of argument.  I  have to believe He looks at me at times, shakes his head, and says,  U know I…

Back in church

There's a new effort to persuade people to get "Back in church".  It's targeting those who once attended church but who no longer come.  Most participating churches showed an uptick in attendance, and the effort is gaining momentum.

We're for anything that gets people back to church. But how much better…

Why worry Part II

This entry goes back to the topic on worrying that I posted a couple of weeks ago.  I feel like even though we know we shouldn't worry, we are still really insecure at times and cant help but to worry.  I know in my life at least, a lot of time and energy is spent on worrying about things that I cant control.  So not only does this not help the situation, but it can even be counter productive.  Living in fear and anxiety only hinders us and may cause us to miss out on opportunities that God has… Continue

"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

—2 Timothy 2:15, KJV

The program is designed to help Christians become better wielders of the sword of the Spirit. Scripture is inspired by God (2Ti 3:16), holy and able to make wise (2Ti 3:15), comforting (Ro 15:4), for reasoning (Ac 17:2), and is truth (John 17:17). This study tool is presented with the hope that it will be used by the Holy Spirit to aid… Continue

Thanking God

When was the last time you jumped for joy?

A key biblical principle or Spiritual Exercise is ‘Being Thankful to God’. His Word tells us that we’re to express our thanks for what He’s done in our life and for who He is.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.Psalm 107:1

The more we’ve experienced the love of God and understand who He…

Paul opens up about his sin .... he makes sin personal. Romans 7

“I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do,” Paul wrote.  Have you ever considered what sin(s) Paul battled?  I mean, let’s be honest—it is difficult to think of him struggling with temptation and sin, isn’t it?  After all,

Paul was arguably the second best teacher that ever walked this earth,

the first and most influential missionary,

taking the Gospel from Jerusalem into Europe and…

Words of The Day

Sound Preaching

1 Corinthians 2 (King James Version)

1And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.

2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

3And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

 4And my speech and…

Sin.....distance yourself from it. Romans 6.12-23

“God’s great love and purposes for us are worked out in the messes, storms and sins, blue skies, daily work, and dreams of our common lives, working with us as we are and not as we should be.”2

And yet…he doesn’t want us to be dragged down by sin…Paul finishes out Romans chapter 6--

(You are dead to sin, and alive to God) That means you must not give sin a vote in the way you conduct your lives. Don't give it the time of…
