Principality of Fear, By Dr. Dorothy Hooks PsyD

This is a wonderful and very through teaching on the effects of fear on our lives, if we allow it. It comes to steal, kill and destroy what God is doing in, around and thru us. We must learn to understand this, and how to recognize it, and stand against it. Dr. Hooks is a Christain, and also has a PHD, in Christian Counseling, and specializes in Women who are Abused. Hope you find this teaching very helpful and liberating.…

TONGUE, WORDS, MOUTH.

We must consciously choose our words and not arbitrarily say things.

We also need to take into consideration the ''slangs'' we use.

They may be popular with the world but it will bring destruction to our lives and the lives of others in the realm of the spirit.

There is power in the tongue and if we indulge it in a negative way, demonic forces hear these negative confessions and act on it.

JAMES 3-8) But the human tongue can be tamed by no man.it is a restless…

When Life Seems Unfair...

Lord when I'm troubled by the insult of another, help me to let go of my desire for revenge. May I seek justice but also realize that it will happen in your time. I want to learn to overcome evil with good. All wrongs will one day be set right by God who sees both bad and good: All motives and all deeds will then be fairly judged and understood. O help us, Lord to live our lives so unsaved people clearly see reflections of your loving heart, your kindness, and your purity...

Three Things. Romans 8.18-28

Mama always told me that things come in threes.   Yesterday, today, tomorrow … tic-tac-toe … Father, Son, Holy Spirit … in baseball—three strikes, three bases, three outfielders … as we look a little more closely at the middle of Romans chapter eight, we see Paul’s observation that in life, there are three things that groan.  Take a look at Paul’s thoughts:

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.  For…

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH JESSUS

GOD SPEAKS TO US THROUGH JESUS

“God, Who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in times past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken to us by His Son, Whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by Whom also He made the worlds; Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His Person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty…

HOLDING TO THE HEM

Holding the Hem

Luke 8:40-56

Who do you say that Jesus is? Was He just a Jewish carpenter who was nailed to a piece of wood? Was He just a local magician, casting spells on nature? Or perhaps He was a good teacher who taught His disciples the difference between right and wrong, good and bad, life and death? Who do you say that Jesus is?

This was the question on the tip of the disciples' tongues. In verse 22 of Luke 8, Jesus gets in the boat with His disciples. A storm arises on… Continue

Held in the power of God’s Love. Romans 8.18-39

Look where we are going . . . here in Romans chapter eight.

Scripture is meant to be read in its context.  So as we consider creation, we must remember that we have a hope and a future ourselves—an eternal one.  I have emboldened and underlined certain points, because my dear friends, these verses are critical to right thinking!  (perhaps you should consider reading this out loud, because this is one amazing passage, and I pray that it sends…

Paul and Nature . . . Anthropomorphism. Romans 8.19

Anthropomorphism - attributing human characteristics to an animal or nature.  Did you know that the apostle Paul used anthropomorphism in his letters?

“For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are.”  Romans 8.19

“Poppycock!” you say, “As though creation understands that it is awaiting anything in the future—God-moved or otherwise!  Was Paul daft, Man?”  Permit me to take you where I’ve been in considering the answer…

having cancer...and endtimes...

Hi,   Having cancer and seeing that we probably are living in the endtimes isn't all that different for me.   God's time clock for all those who aren't of Israel, is soooo close to ticking  away to the last chance for salvation for them.  He will then again turn to draw the Jews to Himself (see Romans 9-11) !    Wow! -  when you hear prophecy preachers telling of the array of nations that will come up against Israel before Israel really does see that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, really was…

The Cloud Maker

High above, I find there,

the proud, cotton-like clouds covering the sky,

I come to think of their Moulder,

and express a joyful sigh,

with amazing shades of color,

often yellow, white and blue,

no matter what their hue,

I find them peaceful and true, wherefore,

desiring their Maker,

to worship and adore.

When darkness sojourns the night,

either without or the moon shines,

the clouds display their curves and…

Words that bug.

Some words associated with Christianity really turn people off.  These words have the power to alienate, confuse, and create hostility—so strong are the reactions at times.  I’ve seen the expressions on faces time and again when the words are used in a religiously-integrated or even denominationally-mixed group.  (Hey, I like that, “religiously-integrated”)

Born again.  The first time that I remember the term ‘born again’…

Imaginary Jesus

I recently read an outstanding book, "Imaginary Jesus," by Matt Mikalatos. It highlighted something I have witnessed others doing and I have even done it myself - we make Jesus to be what suits us, not who He truly is.

Every Christian should read this book. I am certain that many will find themselves within the pages.

You can get the book at…

2 Chronicles 1:1-17 (Good News Translation)

God’s Word Goes Forth: Come to the Lord in Prayer

Introduction

2 Chronicles 1:1-17: 2 Chronicles tells the story of Solomon building the temple. It was written to give encouragement to the people who had returned from exile in Babylon. In today’s reading, Solomon and the chiefs go to Gibeon where the tabernacle of the Lord and the brazen altar were; there he offers a thousand sacrifices. The Lord appears to him in a dream, and gives him…
